Revenge served in a black dress (Nora and Jace) novel Chapter 79

Nora

She took that offer to take a walk with Jace and made it a long walk down by the river so that her

parents and her former Alpha’s, unit could take all her belongings down to their cars. Hers was

fixed and in the car park over by all the other pack cars, she’d given her keys to her father and

explained where it was.

This was the only way that it was going to get past Jace, all the movement within the packhouse.

She knew his unit would all turn in for the night. There was no need for them not to, and she’d been

tracking most of their movements for the past few days and seen that they were all turned in by

9pm if Jace didn’t need them to do anything specific.

Today was a day he would never forget. He was getting the full happy mate bond experience, and

all so she could reject him tomorrow and see him truly be broken by her. She was going to stand

there and watch that man’s heart break. He was not going to be able to talk her into forgiving him.

Even if he got down on his knees and begged her to forgive him in front of everyone, asked her to

take back her rejection, she wasn’t going to do it. He didn’t deserve her, he certainly didn’t deserve

Rosa. He could go back to being mateless and waiting centuries for their Goddess to gift him

another Mate.

A part of her really did hope that Selana would punish him properly. Maybe she could give him a

Mate that was in love with someone else that would drag out her decision on who she wanted,

love or mate bond, only to reject him in the end, or accept him and then change her mind and go back to her lover. Realizing the mate bond wasn’t love. Do to him what he’d done to her.

She walked hand in hand with him and answered his questions, but not with the things she actually liked. He didn’t need to know anything about her, not her favorite color, flower or what she liked doing in her time off. Those things he had no right to know. She, however, did tell him random things and smiled at him all the time.

She was going to brand this day into his memory, all his long life. Every time their actual mate bond anniversary came around he would think of her, it’s what rejected mates did, it was inevitable. But then the anniversary of today, he was forming their first truly good memory where he was bonded to her, so this day would also haunt him.

Come tomorrow, for the rest of his life, he would also recall the Luna Ceremony he was putting on for her, and all the details of what was going to happen. Three days every year he would have to suffer the memories of her, how she looked and know that it was all that he’d done to her that had

seen her reject him.

She’d made sure that today and tonight all her words for all to hear showed she was accepting of

him once more, and she’d been truly happy in that dinner, so even if Matt had opted to feel her out all he would have gotten was her happiness. He’d even have picked up on that she wanted Jace to be happy tonight at dinner, to truly feel their mate bond properly for the very first time.

That Gamma had nothing on her. He wasn’t game to push his charm at her for fear of it breaking her and Jace’s bond, which she’d threatened him it would do. She’d beat him at his own game, and tomorrow he too was going to see just how useless of a Gamma he actually was.

She wondered if Selena would punish him too? Would she strip him of the Goddessgiven charm and render him unable to help anyone, seeing as he’d never felt the need to help the one in the

pack that was his job, the Alpha’s Mate?

She could feel someone tugging on her tether and realized it was Gloria, that shewolf was trying to figure out what she was doing. We should sit for a while.Nora told Jace as they came to a

small grassy area by the river’s edge.

He smiled at her. The man was oblivious, as he had always been. He was still the selfabsorbed,

arrogant, I’m allimportant man, and only saw what he wanted to see. She doubted anything had

really changed for him other than finally succumbing to the mate bond.

But she would take the opportunity to sit and close her eyes, tilt her face up to the almost full

moon and look relaxed at his side while she spoke with Gloria. She and Jace were walking in what

he thought was a companionable silence.

She connected herself to Gloria. My Luna, what can I do for you?’ she asked.

What the hell is going on?Gloria snapped at her.

‘I have to act this way with all the guests here. That’s what Jace wants them to see, that he’s a

good Mate and charming gentleman. If you look to the packhouse you’ll see my things are being moved into cars as we speak. I’m still leaving as planned.

You’ll still get to have him all to yourself. He’s not once touched me or even tried to in the past

month, he’s still in love with you. Made sure I knew that today.she sighed a little on the heavy side.

He came to my room and told me in no uncertain terms not to humiliate him or make him look

bad, that I had better not act childish around other Alphas and disrespect him.

That things will go back to normal once they’re all gone. I’m just doing as I’m told; I don’t need him rolling his aura at me and making me bow down to him again. It hurt enough the last few times he’s done that to me. It’s why I’m rarely seen about the packhouse. He comes and rolls his aura at me when he’s ticked off about who knows what, not me

I’m also wolfless Gloria, I can’t do anything to harm you or him, so I’m doing as I’m told is all, to not incur any more punishment from him until I leave tomorrow. My family and old Alpha will be escorting me from the pack; you’ll get your Luna Ceremony just as you planned to.

Good,Gloria stated and cut the link.

She sighed to herself and shook her head without thinking about it and only realized she’d done it

when Jace touched her. What’s the matter?”

Nothing,” she stated, and looked at him.

Nora, please don’t do that. I heard that heavy sigh and saw you shake your head, if something is

wrong.

Nothing is wrong,” she stated, and had to think very quickly about how to explain that so he

wouldn’t get suspicious. I just tried to call Rosa to me, she still won’t come forward. I don’t know if she ever will, she murmured.

I’m so sorry Nora,he sighed himself now That is all my fault, and I don’t even know what to do about it. I’ve read many books that say a wolf can come back under the right circumstances. I’m trying to make things right, so she’ll come back.

I know you are.She nodded and said nothing more.

I’m hoping tomorrow Hydro will call for her after the Luna Ceremony, and she’ll feel that we’ve reconnected and come back. It’s the best thing for her to sense, for her to feel that you are happy and are truly loved by me and Hydro. When she understands that, she’ll come back.

She didn’t say anything at all, just looked to the river. He may have succumbed to the mate bond but she didn’t honestly think he knew what love was. If he’d truly loved Gloria, he’d have marked and mated her a lifetime ago, and he would never have accepted their mate bond in the first place. If he truly loved her and Rosa now. He’d have killed Gloria for all she did to pull them apart and destroy their mate bond. The man didn’t know what love was, he was too arrogant for his own good, too used to getting his own way, and he only truly cared about himself and what he wanted. Yes, he had now learned that he could only have one of them and not both of them, but that was all he’d learned she’d thought. A part of her was curious as to how he became this way and another part of her didn’t really care. What did it matter in the grand scheme of things? Nothing is what, or not for her.

She wondered about that as she lay down on the grass and looked up at the moon, if she had been gifted to him just to teach him a lesson. Was that her purpose here in his world? Had Selena known that she would be able to handle all that pain and find a way to make him learn a valuable lesson?

Was she here just for that very reason? To pull him into line and make him see the error of his ways. It could well be that was all she was here to do. She moved her eyes to him as he sat next to her. She’d rendered him quiet with her words about Rosa. He knew she was gone because of him.

He was just sitting staring out at the river himself now, and she wondered how much it pained his beast to know that his human had practically killed her wolf, and he’d done nothing to stop it

himself, so, in essence, Hydro had harmed his own Mate too.

I’m ready to go back. She told him after several minutes of silence.

Alright. He nodded and got up and held his hand out to her. She took it and found herself pulled right into his chest as he hugged her.

I’m so very sorry, Nora, about everything. His chin was on the top of her head. I will do everything in my power to find a way to bring Rosa back to you,” he sighed softly. I will fix this, I promise you,”

he murmured.

She sighed herself, though for her, it was because of the way he was holding her, though he

probably thought it was because of Rosa. He let go and tilted her face up to his. I promise, I’ll

never hurt you ever again.

She nodded and gently extracted herself from his arms before he tried to kiss her, and she had a

feeling he was going to. Let’s go back. She murmured and stepped away from him. He fell into

step with her, slipping his hand into hers once more.
