He’d not ever seen Nora dressed like that before, nor had he ever seen her wear make–up that
enhanced the beauty she already had. She had indeed bought a dress that was not only his
favorite color but hugged her all over and that split up to her thigh, made him itch to touch her
She stepped right over to him and stood with him as everyone entered the dining room, and she was smiling and happy to be standing beside him. She didn’t brush his hand from her or turn away from any of his actions. She smiled and laughed and, for the first time, he saw her as she should always have been.
His Luna sitting next to him, happy and radiant, chatting with everyone, getting along with him and laughing. She enjoyed being at his side. Her long hair was swept back into a lovely long curling
ponytail, her hair was thick and lustrous, and it sometimes fell in a cascade of curls that hid her
face from him.
He reached out and moved it so he could look at her. He’d never seen her so happy here inside his pack. Or maybe she had once been like this before things fell apart, and he’d ruined everything. Now here she was willing to give him another chance on her terms, and he could see that doing this on her terms was now the right way to do this.
She was, he saw, happy with her family here and more comfortable he thought, knowing that he was willing to prove he would love and cherish her. He kept the dinner talk to normal everyday things, not wanting to spoil the mood, allowed the talk of the pups to go on as long as they wanted
it to.
Though he did feel a pain in his chest, knowing she and he’d lost their first pup, a pup he’d not even known about, one she’d not even know about either. She’d not once brought it up, nor even
appeared to be sad about the loss of it, and he wondered if she’d not cared, because of what
Gloria had told her was going to happen to that pup if she had one with him.
It was very likely she, at the time, was glad not to have to be having a pup, and she’d gone on birth control right away. She hadn’t even batted an eyelid over it, just stated yes to Dr. Carlos and did not
even seem to care that they weren’t to try for at least a year afterwards either. Though he did recall her stating she wouldn’t even consider getting pregnant until after her degree and had told him at least two years. That could also be a factor in her attitude about their lost pup.
Although he knew all this was done for her health, and it would always have to be monitored for now, with every pup that they would have in the future, and he hoped it didn’t happen again, that would render her unable to have pups if it did. Dr. Carlos had told him it just sometimes happens. there was no rhyme or reason to it.

Though he had thought it was because Rosa wasn’t really with her, sometimes she was and other
times she wasn’t, so it made the growth of the pup unpredictable, and maybe that was why it had
happened. It wasn’t something that was a normal thing in the wolfen world, a rarity, something no pack doctor ever looked for.
He didn’t really interact much in the conversation about the pups those four she wolves were
having, but Nora had no issue with it at all. She was genuinely happy for them, talked like they all
did, asked questions about names and if they were having sons or daughters. Not one of them.
asked her about how she was doing, or brought up that she’d lost a pup at all.
Not even to him about the loss of the pack’s heir, and he wondered if Nora had told any of them.
what had happened. He’d not brought it up to her parents because he’d not know what had been.
going on that day, but to him, it didn’t sound like she had told anyone they’d lost a pup.
He stood when dinner was over, and he waited until everyone filed out of the room, and heard Luna
Nelly tell Clayton she’d like to get changed and go for a short evening walk, to help digest dinner. She didn’t want to get indigestion. Clayton had looked at Jace, and he’d nodded. “You may walk
anywhere inside the pack,” he told them.
Nora smiled up at him. “Thank you for organizing the dinner, it was a lovely meal.”
He smiled at her. “I’m glad you had a lovely time, would you like to take a walk?” he offered, seeing
as the others were going to.
“Mm, not in these shoes,” she stated and held her foot out and waved her shoe at him. She was
wearing the black ones she often wore inside her room.
“Fair enough, perhaps a change of clothes, into something more comfortable.” He murmured a little teasingly. He couldn’t help himself. They’d gotten along so well at dinner that he wanted to play with her, and let her know he wanted her at the same time.
Nora shook her head and chuckled at him, “A change of clothes, yes, not what you’re implying though.” She shoved him a little, being playful back, in front of everyone ever “You promised
nothing tonight, because you get to have me tomorrow night.”
He chuckled himself, and nodded. “That I did,” he stated. He knew it was her way of reminding him. nothing would happen between them until after the ceremony. But she’d not made it sound like that for all of their guests to hear. She had made it light and playful, showing they were all good, and she was happy about them coming back together.
“Go up and get changed. I’ll meet you in 10 back here,” he stated.
“Alright.” She smiled at him and walked away with her parents to the elevator.
He sighed softly as they all headed upstairs. “It’s going well I think.” Mark smiled at him.
“She was actually happy in that dining room,” Matt told him, “I got that loud and clear even without

having to focus on her. She was also more interactive with you. That is a good thing.”
“You didn’t focus on her, did you?” Jace asked. “It’ll tick her off. I really don’t want that.”

“I did not. I’ve never seen her like that, and her smiling and laughing. It was all real, I could see that.”
Matt nodded.
“Everyone could,” Mark smiled. “Tomorrow night will see things change, and everything will be as it
should be. I noticed she didn’t even mind you touching her, and she willingly came and talked to you today, and stood by you when coming for dinner.”
“That was a nice feeling,” Jace nodded. “She looked and felt like a Luna to me tonight.” He
admitted, and that was something he’d only seen once when she’d been putting him in his place up
in that room of hers. Laying it all out for him in that calm, but firm manner that showed her Luna
qualities to him for the first time.
“I think her being addressed as such and treated as this pack’s Luna by her former Alpha and their
unit. Her former Luna even, helped to make her feel like a Luna,” Jace told them. “I’d better get
changed for our walk. I don’t want to be late.”
He’d changed from his suit to jeans and a tee–shirt and went back downstairs. She strolled down
the stairs in much the same clothes as he was wearing, though she was still fully made–up. He
smiled at her and held his hand out to her in the hope she would take it.
“Where would you like to walk to?” he offered.
“Hmm, maybe a stroll along the river. It’s peaceful out there, and it’s a nice night,” she stated as she
walked over to him.
It was and would take an hour or so. That was good. Just the two of them out on a night walk in
the woods of the pack. She did take his hand, and he wanted to hug her but didn’t. He just walked
them outside and led her off to the western woods. There was a nice path along the river and a
casual stroll they would take.
She was quiet as they walked. “What are you thinking about?” he asked after several minutes of
walking silently.
“Nothing in particular, well,” she smiled. “Tomorrow I guess.”
“Everything will be perfect. I promise you nothing will go wrong,” he told her. “I can’t wait to see you
in your dress. Is this the style of make–up you’ll be wearing?” he asked, “You look absolutely
stunning.”
“No, it’ll be more natural looking,” she told him. “I’ll also be wearing my hair out.”
“Curls like today.” he reached out and touched them, “I like this look on you.”
“I was going to straighten my hair… but if you like the curls, I could do that for you. Would you like

me to curl my hair for you tomorrow?” she asked.
His eyes moved over her, and he nodded. “I think I would love that, to see your beautiful face
framed so lovely.”
“Then I will curl it for you,” she nodded, “and leave it out for me, something for both of us.”
He nodded. “Thank you,” he stated, and they continued on along the riverside path. “I’m happy,
Nora, to be out here walking with you, just the two of us. Maybe you could tell me some things.
about yourself.”
“What do you want to know?” she asked.
“Hmm, favorite color, flowers, things you like to do when not busy studying?” he asked. They were
things he still didn’t know.
“Hmm, I don’t really have a favorite flower. I like a mix of them all together. My favorite color is light
blue, and I listen to music when not studying.”
“What type of music?”
“Anything with a good strong beat. That sounds good coming from a subwoofer.” She chuckled
softly.
“You’ll have to play something for me. I don’t really understand that,” he shook his head, that could
mean anything at all.
