Chapter 141 Coming Home

After she’d been taken, Becky hadn’t dared to hope Xavier would come for her. He was abroad–it would’ve taken too long for him to return. All she could do was pray Abigail would react quickly, alert the police, and maybe someone would save her.
She never imagined Xavier would make it back so fast. And even more unexpected–how resourceful he was, how quickly. he’d tracked her down.
On the road, Xavier suddenly asked, “Becky, do you remember anything about your parents?”
Becky was caught off guard. “Why are you asking that all of a sudden?”
“Just curious.”
She shook her head. “No.”
Her birth father had been a bastard. He already had a wife and family but still seduced Evelyn, feeding her lies.
Evelyn had fallen hard, believing she’d found true love. She dreamed of marrying him, soaking in the sweet nothings he fed her daily.
She brought up marriage a few times, but he brushed it off with excuses.
Then she found out she was pregnant, Naively, she thought he’d be thrilled and propose. But instead, he dropped the bomb
-he was married and couldn’t be with her.
Evelyn’s world collapsed.
The man she loved already had a family. It broke her.
But she was too far gone. She begged him to leave his wife and marry her.
He refused–and even tried to convince her to get an abortion.
Evelyn wouldn’t do it. She was already completely lost in that fantasy. She cried every day, pleaded with him endlessly.
Eventually, he disappeared.
She waited day after day, but he never came. Not even when Becky was born.
Evelyn fell into a deep depression. When Becky was three, Evelyn jumped from a building and ended her life.
Of course. Becky hadn’t remembered any of that herself–she was too young. It was Evelyn’s friend, Ava, who told her the truth later oIL
After Evelyn’s death, Aya had sent Becky to live with her grandmother in the countryside. She stayed there until she was twelve, when her grandmother passed away. Then she ended up in the Bolton household.
Becky had never asked Ava about her father. A man like that didn’t deserve to be known.
A married man who played with a young woman’s heart, drove her into depression, and destroyed her life–he was despicable Vile.
Sering Becky had no interest in talking further, Xavier didn’t press the subject.
Before long, the car arrived at Luminous Heights.
Becky bolted out like a bird returning to its nest, barely sparing a word for Xavier as she took off running into the complex.
Xavier watched her figure disappear from view, then spoke calmly to Randall. “Drive”
Where to?”
“The office”
There was
mountain of work waiting for him
Chapter 141 Coming Home
Meanwhile. Becky saw the elevator stuck on the sixth floor and didn’t wait. She sprinted up the stairs.
This old apartment building hadn’t originally had an elevator. It was added later after the residents pooled money.
The stairwell was run–down and narrow, but she flew up seven flights without pause.
Inside, Abigail was feeding James when she looked up and gasped. “Ms. Quinn! You’re back!”
Becky smiled and rushed over. “Yeah.”
She stared at James with teary eyes. She’d made it. She was really seeing her baby again.
Once Abigail finished feeding him, Becky took James into her arms. Her heart softened into mush.
Mother and son–he reached out and touched her face.
He’d missed his mommy, too.
Soon after, Sharon stormed in and wrapped Becky in a huge hug, sobbing uncontrollably.
“Becky! Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
Becky beamed and reassured her, “I’m fine. See? Not a scratch on me.”
Sharon spun her around and checked every inch of her to be sure.

She’d heard about the kidnapping from Brendon–and that it was done by a notorious criminal. She’d looked him up online. Most of his hostages didn’t make it out alive.
She’d been terrified Becky wouldn’t come back.
When Brendon told her Becky had returned, she’d ditched work and rushed straight to Luminous Heights..
“I’m just so glad you’re okay!”
Becky pulled her to the couch and handed her tissues. “Come on. Stop crying.”
“Nope. Let me cry. I’m 100 emotional right now.”
Becky chuckled. “You’ll put up your eyes. Not a good look.”
“I don’t care!
Becky smiled, genuinely touched. So many people had worried about her. She wasn’t alone in the world.
Meanwhile, Lyle sent Becky’s full information to the Shanks family.
Wayne quickly dug into her background
When he read her history, his face darkened
His little sister had suffered far too much.
Once news spread that the youngest Shanks sibling had been found, the entire family rushed back–Lyle included Only Jul remained bedridden, and Wayne’s two kids were away. But everyone else gathered
Janus trembled as he stared at Becky’s photo
She looks so much like your mother. It has to be Laly. It has to be my Lily!”
