Chapter 191 Cancellations, Concerts, and Crushed Expectations
Everyone left happy–except Brendon.
Sharon watched her idol get into the car, waving like she was trying to wave
her
arm off.
Brendon, one hand in his pocket, said coolly, “Back to work.”
Only then did Sharon tear her eyes away.

Logan dropped Becky off at the clinic. Before she got out of the car, he handed her two things.
She took them and looked down–Samson’s autograph on a poster and a concert ticket.
“Ahhh!”
Logan covered his ears.
Watching her reaction, he gave a dramatic sigh.
He’d had a schedule in Ocean City yesterday and had run into Samson there.
Samson handed him the items. “Give these to Lily. I promised her.”
Logan had accepted them, planning to come to Dracovia for a brand event anyway.
He remembered Samson was supposed to be busy filming a variety show in Brynntown. No idea why he was suddenly in Ocean City. Probably a schedule change–Logan didn’t ask.
They’d met late at night. Samson dragged him out for a midnight snack.
Given their celebrity status, that “snack” was just takeout eaten quietly in a hotel room.
They were staying in the same hotel.
After eating, Logan went back to his room to sleep. The next morning, he received a message from Samson saying he’d flown out to Brynntown.
Logan didn’t reply. He packed up and flew to Dracovia.
Becky was thrilled with Samson’s surprise.
“Logan, you going to the concert?”
Logan made a face. “No way.”
He didn’t want to risk stealing Samson’s thunder.
Becky nodded.
That was perfect. If Logan sat beside her, the fans would lose their minds. It’d be chaos.
“Logan, why don’t you stay at my place tonight?”
“No, I’ll stay at the hotel”
“Alright, that works.”

Sharon hadn’t been to Becky’s new place yet and made a fuss about wanting to visit.
Even though Becky hadn’t lived there long, chances were she’d keep staying there whenever she returned.
Becky told her to come over after work for dinner. Sharon couldn’t be happier.
Brendon watched through the blinds.
Just a moment ago, Sharon looked like she was on her last breath–now she was full of life, practically flying out the door with her purse in hand.
He felt inexplicably annoyed.
He picked up his phone and made a call.
Sharon’s heart sank when she saw Brendon calling to say she had to work overtime.
She had no choice but to head back.
Looking at the stack of documents in front of her, she remembered Brendon saying they weren’t due u
And the other secretaries had all left for the day–why was she the only one staying late?
Brendon said, “You’re new to the secretary department. You need more hands–on experience.”
Sharon got the message. Typical new hire treatment.
Just like all the interns–ordering food, making copies, serving tea, sometimes even cleaning.
Being a corporate grunt wasn’t easy.
Worse yet, even if young people wanted to be grunts, it wasn’t easy to find stable work nowadays.
And once you hit 35, companies might lay you off.
Just thinking about it was depressing.
tomorrow.
By comparison, her job was stable. If Cloudreach Group didn’t go under, she could retire from here. She should treasure that.
With that in mind, Sharon gave in and started organizing the pile of documents.
Brendon watched her from across the room. One moment she sighed, the next she clenched her fists and nodded to herself -who knew what she was thinking?
Sharon messaged Becky to say she’d be late.
Becky said she’d be late too.
But in the end, Becky still got home first.
When Sharon arrived, she collapsed onto the couch. “I’m exhausted!”
Becky handed her a glass of water.
“Lots more work now that you’re in the secretary department?”
Sharon took a sip. “Way more. Brendon’s always watching me, too. I don’t dare slack off.”
Becky smirked slightly.
Suddenly, Sharon felt something tugging at her leg. She nearly kicked it away–looked down and saw James.
Oh my god! Is this my godson? He can crawl already?”

Becky laughed. “He’s been crawling for a while now. I made a nursery upstairs for him, padded the floor so he could crawl safely. At first he liked it, but lately he hates being confined. The moment I put him down, he crawls toward the door. If we’re downstairs, he refuses to stay upstairs, so now we just let him crawl around the living room.”
The floors were spotless–the housekeeper disinfected and cleaned daily.
Sharon burst out laughing and scooped James into her arms.
“My godson is getting more handsome! He’s looking more and more like his dad.”
“Speaking of–Xavier’s still on that business trip?”
Becky paused for a beat. “I think so.”
Sharon grinned. “You know, once you move to Circovia, it’s gonna be a lot harder to get some… quality time with Xavier.”
Becky shot her a look.
Abigail was still around.
Sensing the tension, Abigail tactfully picked up James and took him upstairs.
