Chapter 202 Tea, Tongues, and Tension
“Ah! Seriously?”
“Yeah.”
“What was it like?”
After a pause, she replied, “Go find a man and try it yourself.”
Sharon: “Did it feel good?”
Becky didn’t want to answer.
Talking about something like that out loud was too embarrassing.

Sharon kept pestering her but still didn’t get anything useful. What she did get were a bunch of weird looks from the people around her.
Clicking her tongue, she said, “I’m coming to find you after work.”
Becky thought for a moment. “Alright, let’s eat out.”
Sharon lit up. “Perfect. It’d be so awkward if we ran into Xavier at your place again. By the way, he didn’t say anything last time, right?”
She was still traumatized from the last time she egged Becky on to pick someone up at Circovia–only for Xavier to show up out of nowhere. Nearly gave her a heart attack.
Becky replied with clear annoyance, “You’ve got some nerve bringing that up. You caused the mess and ran off like nothing happened.”
Sharon chuckled guiltily. “Come on, Xavier likes you. I figured he wouldn’t do anything to you. I’m the outsider—what if he killed me or something?”
Becky recalled that night. Xavier had been mad, but in the end, he didn’t say much.
Just as Becky hung up on Sharon, Xavier’s name popped up on her screen.
“Have you eaten?”
“Yeah.”
“Was it good?”
“It was okay.”
Xavier was used to her always saying the opposite of what she meant. He smiled.
“Miss me?”
“Nope.”
Xavier tsked. This woman really had a sharp tongue.
“Would it kill you to just say you missed me?”
Becky: “I’ve been swamped! I don’t have time to miss you!”
“Since you’re so busy, I’ll forgive you,” he said generously. “I’ll probably come get you around five.”
Becky: “I’m having dinner with Sharon tonight. You don’t have to pick me up.”
Xavier: “..”

After lunch, Sharon returned to the office. The other three secretaries weren’t back yet. She made herself a cup of tea and sat at her desk scrolling through videos.
Brendon stepped out of his office. “Make me one too.”
Sharon stood up. “Sure, right away.”
A good secretary should respond quickly and handle things efficiently.
Two minutes later, Sharon walked into Brendon’s office holding a cup of tea.
“Mr. Brendon, your tea. It’s hot, be careful.”
“Is that so? Blow on it for me.”
Sharon:
She froze for two seconds, then picked up the cup and blew on it.
She really wanted to ask: Mr. Brendon, aren’t you worried I’ll blow spit into your tea?
After thinking about it, she kept the question to herself.
Whatever. If it gets contaminated, it’s not her problem–he asked her to blow on it. If she accidentally spit in it, it was on him.
A minute later-
“Should be good now.”
Sharon set the cup down in front of him.
Brendon took a sip and frowned. “Tastes bad.”
Sharon: “…”
Doing her duty as a professional secretary, she replied, “Mr. Brendon, that’s just a standard tea bag. It doesn’t compare to premium tea leaves. Please make do.”
Actually, Cloudreach Group had excellent benefits. The break room was stocked with tea bags, coffee, juice, and all kinds of
snacks.
Brendon didn’t say anything more and kept drinking.
Sharon: “Mr. Brendon, if there’s nothing else, I’ll step out now.”
Her own tea was getting cold.
“Wait.”
Brendon stopped her.
Sharon didn’t move.
“Yes, Mr. Brendon?”
He cleared his throat. “That day… you said your parents invited me to dinner, right?”
If she looked closely, she’d see he looked a little uncomfortable asking.
“Yes. But Mr. Brendon, I know you’re very busy. It’s totally fine if you don’t have time.”
“I have time.”
“Huh?”
“I said I’m free tomorrow at noon.”

Sharon: “…”
She froze, then gave a couple of awkward chuckles. “Alright then. I’ll let my parents know in advance so they can prepare.”
Brendon: “No need to go overboard. Just a few simple dishes are fine.”
Sharon: “How could we not? You’re my boss–we have to treat you properly.”
Brendon looked a little embarrassed.
“Then… sorry to trouble them.”
“It’s no trouble at all! They want to thank you.”
“Thank me?”
“Yeah. You moved me into the secretary department and signed a permanent employment contract with me. When my parents heard, they were really grateful.”
Brendon: “…”
So that’s what this was about. He’d misunderstood.
Just then, Sharon heard the other three secretaries come back. She said, “Mr. Brendon, I’ll step out and message my parents.”
“…Alright.”
Sharon walked out of Brendon’s office and immediately got a nasty look from Nancy.
She didn’t care.
Brendon was the one who signed her paychecks, not Nancy. If Nancy tried anything, she’d fight back with everything she had.
She’d signed a contract with Brendon–he wouldn’t fire her.
As long as she kept her head down, did her job, and collected her paycheck each month, she’d be fine. No stress, no fear of being laid off. Honestly, it was a pretty sweet deal.
Nancy, meanwhile, was dying of jealousy seeing Sharon in such a good mood–but she couldn’t say a thing.
Sharon texted Mary to let her know Brendon would be coming for lunch tomorrow.
Mary replied with a single word: “Got it.”
