Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 481

Alicia was quiet for a moment before she spoke again. “Mr. Edwards, forgive me for being blunt, but power only matters when it’s in your own hands. That’s the only real security.”

Vincent was proof of that—he’d kept his head down for years, biding his time. Then, with Tyrone’s help, he’d swept Stephen and those illegitimate sons right out of Lynch Corporation, clean and quick.

Connor managed a bitter smile. Of course he wished he could be like Vincent—patient, enduring, just waiting for the chance to claim control for himself.

But his father was a different beast from Stephen. Stephen was all bluster and no talent; when he ran Lawson & Co., he just coasted on the family’s old reputation. But Connor’s father? He was a cunning old fox—there was no way he’d hand over the reins easily.

“The reason Vincent and I get along so well,” Connor said with a sigh, “is probably because we’re both in the same boat. We see ourselves in each other. The only real difference is… my dad never had any secret kids.”

Alicia didn’t press further. She knew if she kept asking, Connor would start getting suspicious.

It was clear enough—Connor’s father was sharp, hiding behind the façade of retirement and illness while really pulling all the strings at the top of the company.

He was going to be a tough opponent.

“I’m going to rest for a bit. You two carry on,” Alicia said with a smile, standing to leave.

Once she was in her room, she called Kenney. “Connor’s just a puppet,” she said quietly.

“Then his father’s almost certainly the one pulling the strings,” Kenney replied, glancing over at Tyrone.

It was pretty clear now—the real target was Connor’s father.

“He’s not going to be easy to deal with. You all need to be careful,” Alicia warned, concern in her voice.

“No worries over here. Just keep your distance from Vincent, okay?” Tyrone said, reaching over to snag Kenney’s phone and gently teasing Alicia to stay away from Vincent.

Alicia couldn’t help but laugh. “Vincent and Connor are close. If it weren’t for Vincent, I wouldn’t have learned any of this.”

Connor still went out of his way to protect his father’s reputation in public.

“The Edwards family isn’t simple, either. You be careful on your end,” Tyrone said, unable to hide his concern for her.
