Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 482

Italy.

Easton and Pamela wandered the streets side by side, neither of them speaking. They’d already crossed a dozen blocks, lost in their own thoughts.

Pamela glanced sidelong at Easton. It was obvious he had something weighing on his mind.

“My brother’s made it pretty clear he wants to arrange a marriage between us,” she said quietly. “But my sister-in-law won’t give her blessing unless we’re both willing. She says it’s up to us.” Pamela looked at Easton as if to remind him not to let trivial matters get in the way of their engagement plans.

Easton snapped out of his daze and nodded. “She wouldn’t interfere too much.”

“You like Winnie, don’t you?” Pamela’s lips curled into a knowing smile. A girl’s intuition was never wrong, and she could see how Easton looked at Winnie—there was no hiding affection in one’s eyes.

Easton gave a helpless nod. “But she doesn’t feel the same way.”

“I think she does,” Pamela said, her smile widening. “Trust a woman’s instinct.”

For a moment, hope flickered in Easton’s eyes, but it faded just as quickly. “No way. She likes someone mature. To her, I’m just a kid brother.”

Pamela shook her head. “She has this unspoken hostility toward me, which can only mean she’s possessive when it comes to you. If you trust me, I can help…”

She leaned in, whispering something softly into Easton’s ear.

Easton stared at her, startled. “Is that really okay? Wouldn’t it be unfair to you?”

Pamela winked. “You’ve helped me too.”

She had her own secret—a boy she liked, a local Italian kid from an ordinary family. Of course, the Edwards family would never allow Pamela to marry someone so unremarkable, let alone a foreigner.

The Edwardses were as traditional as they came: daughters were bargaining chips for political alliances, sons carried on the family legacy.

Connor might have doted on his sister, but old habits and his father’s iron grip on the family kept him from defying tradition.
