Natalie turned her head toward the sound and found herself staring at Atlas‘ sharp, striking features.

She gave him a brief glance, then shifted her eyes to Zoey. “I’ll handle the patient. You stay out here with her; let her go in half an hour.”

Atlas dipped his head slightly, his tone light. “Yes, madam.”

Zoey trembled with rage. “Just you wait.”

Atlas ignored her and leaned casually against the doorway of the clinic, openly enjoying the

scene.

By the time Natalie wrapped up her work, it was already past eight in the evening.

As she was about to head home, her phone buzzed; it was Lily’s homeroom teacher, calling to give her an update.

Apparently, Lily hadn’t been eating much at school and had been unusually quiet. The teacher

She pushed open the door to her daughter’s room; Lily was already fast asleep, her breathing deep and even.

“How is she? Already out?”

Lucy’s curious voice floated in from behind.

Natalie quietly closed the door, turning to face her. “Yeah, she’s out cold.”

“She seemed a little better today compared to the past couple of days.”

“But her teacher says she’s not eating well at school and still keeps to herself. They want us to pay extra attention to her right now.”

“Alright.” Lucy patted her on the back gently, her voice soft and reassuring. “We’ll take her out for some fun soon, try to cheer her up a bit. She’ll come around, just give her time.”

“Mm.” Something crossed Natalie’s mind, and she spoke again. “Tomorrow night, I need to head to the Collins residence. You’ll have to watch Lily for me. I’ll probably be home very late -maybe not at all.”

“Why the Collins residence again? Is Gabriel’s condition getting worse?”

Lucy’s brows knit as she studied her, confusion written all over her face.

“No. It’s his birthday tomorrow. The Collins family is throwing him a huge party. Marcus is worried something might happen, so he asked me to keep an eye on him all night.”

Lucy frowned. “So basically, you’re playing doctor on the clock.”

Natalie gave a faint smile. “That’s one way to put it.’

She hadn’t told anyone about the deal between her and Marcus, not even Lucy.

“Then don’t worry about a thing,” Lucy said softly. “Go handle your business; I’ve got Lily.”

“Thanks.”

Since she’d be heading straight to the hotel tomorrow and wouldn’t have time to change,
