Chapter 161 A Final Warning
But Natalie didn’t care about any of that anymore. The threat was empty.
“Go ahead and tell him. I don’t care.”
Her indifference seemed to enrage Adelyn even further. “Don’t you dare drag Marcus into your mess, Natalie,” she hissed, her voice rising. “You can ruin your own life, but if you tarnish his reputation, I will make you pay.”
“Why are you so worked up? When did I ever say there was anything between us? Why are you jumping to conclusions?”
“Do I need to?” Adelyn’s laugh was cold and sharp. “Last time, you were coming out of his private lounge. This time, I walk in on you having an intimate dinner for two. Do I really need to speculate?”
Natalie’s good mood had completely evaporated.
Just then, a knock came at the door, followed by Atlas’s voice. “Natalie, there’s a patient here who specifically requested you. Do you have a minute?”
“I’ll be right there,” she called back.
She took her white coat from the hook and looked at Adelyn. “I don’t have time for this nonsense, Ms. Adelyn. Please leave. I have a patient to see.”
Adelyn’s face darkened at the clear dismissal. She lowered her voice, her words a low, venomous hiss. “This is your last warning, Natalie. Stay away from Marcus. He is going to be my husband. Don’t you dare ruin his good name.”
Without waiting for a reply, she turned and stormed out.
Natalie’s hand, holding the white coat, froze for a second. She stared at Adelyn’s retreating back, the air around her growing cold. If Adelyn knew they had already slept together, she would probably want her dead. She was ending a two–year marriage for Marcus; that was how much she loved him.
