Hearing his father’s words, Henry’s brow furrowed. Now the whole internet was mimicking the Weeping Eye.
Trying to cool down the frenzy under such circumstances was impossible.
Worse, more and more people were digging into the symbol, tracing when and where it had appeared. Within a week, someone was bound to uncover its link to the organization.
“Father, tell me the truth. What ties does the Foster family have with this group? Did we ever do anything for them?”
This was what worried Henry most. If his family had ever committed atrocities under the organization’s orders, then once Wendy fell, they might be next.
He had only just become head of the family. He hadn’t even had time to root out the internal
snakes.
At such a critical moment, the Foster family couldn’t afford scandal.
“Yes, we are members,” Felix admitted. “But we never took part in their activities. On that, you can rest easy. The Foster family has never acted against conscience.”
Henry let out a breath.
As long as they hadn’t been complicit, then even if Wendy was exposed, they shouldn’t be dragged down with her.
“Understood. I’ll handle this carefully. No one will find evidence tying us to them.”
Felix’s eyes darkened. “I’m not worried about the Foster family. I’m worried about your aunt.”
He had tried to persuade Wendy before, but her resentment toward the family ran too deep. She refused to listen.
Before she married, their sibling bond had been strong.
But time was merciless.
When Henry returned to his study, he immediately called Eliza.
The Weeping Eye had climbed the hot search too quickly. Someone had fueled it,
And the only one capable of such a push was Nolan.

When Eliza answered, Henry asked, “Were you the ones spreading those rumors online?”

“Rumors?” Eliza said flatly. “You should know better than me. Ask Felix what’s really going on.”
She didn’t think it was all rumor. The photos netizens dug up were proof enough the group existed.
For now, people joked about it as a meme. But Eliza knew it wouldn’t be long before the truth of their crimes came to light.
That organization had done too much harm to stay hidden forever.
“My father says this can’t go too far,” Henry pressed. “Stop fueling the news. I’ll investigate with you. I asked him already—the Foster family is indeed a member, but we never took part in their dealings, never in their crimes.”
Eliza’s brows knit. “You’re members?”
“Yes.”
“What exactly did Felix say?”
She was shaken.
She had thought this was only a foreign power. She hadn’t expected it to have already sunk its roots into Westbrook.
The Foster family was a hundred–year clan.
If they had tied themselves to this group from the start, then that meant the organization had existed for over a century.
No wonder so many old photos bore its emblem.
It had been there all along.
Realizing this, Eliza began digging into older archives, searching for more clues.
She asked Henry over the phone, “When exactly did your aunt’s personality change?”
Henry had once told her Wendy hadn’t always been like this.
Everyone thought it was because she’d been forced to marry a man old enough to be her father, and then lost the man she truly loved to depression.
But Eliza suspected otherwise.

Perhaps during that time Wendy had come into contact with the organization.
That could explain how she rose so quickly overseas, even altering Leo’s will back then.
There had to have been someone pulling strings for her.
“My father said,” Henry replied, “her change came after Leo’s death.”
Leo had died twenty years ago.
They hadn’t even been born yet.
Which meant, at that turning point two decades earlier, Wendy’s life had shifted–and her worldview had shattered.
