The Heiress's Second Chance At Vengeance (Eliza) novel Chapter 605

Chapter 605 The Shattered Dream

+8 Pedr Eliza understood the truth. And deep down, Wendy must have known it too. A woman who had studied medicine for decades couldn’t be ignorant. But Wendy had clung to her obsession, refusing to let go.

You don’t understand,Wendy said, her eyes locked on the man in the pod. You’ve never lost the person you loved most in this world.

For over twenty years she had watched him grow.

Her greatest regret was never being part of Morten’s youth, never sharing his first twenty years. He had stood by her after that, loyal until death, yet she had never seen him as a child.

This clone filled that void.

For two decades she had watched him slowly take shape inside the chamber, watched him become the mirror image of Morten.

It was her wish fulfilledher compensation for the years she had lost.

Who doesn’t want their love to stay with them forever?she whispered. Eliza, you’re still a child. When Nolan dies in front of you one day, you’ll understand what I mean.”

She straightened, her gaze fierce. I know tonight was your trap. Morten is my only weakness. I’ve worked all these years just for the chance to hear him call my name againeven once.

Eliza’s chest tightened. Something felt wrong.

The next second, Wendy slammed her palm onto the control.

The pod hissed open.

The clone’s eyes flickered, then opened for the first time.

Eliza froze. Her face drained of color.

The clone blinked at the world, confused, uncomprehending. He didn’t speakhe couldn’t. Language was foreign to him.

But Wendy looked into those eyes and at last saw her mistake.

This wasn’t Morten. It was only a shellhis face, his body, but no soul. No love.

Her heart clenched. Twenty years of desperate effortwasted.

The young man’s eyes widened in terror, his first and last human emotion. Then he fell limp inside the chamber, never to open his eyes again.

Nolan! Stop her!

Eliza cried out, but it was too late. Nolan lunged forward, wrenching the gun aside, but not fast enough.

The shot went off again. This time into Wendy’s own chest.

Blood bloomed, but the angle had shifted. She wasn’t deadnot yet.

Call an ambulance! We can’t let her die!Nolan shouted, already applying pressure to the wound.

If they wanted the truthabout the research, about the person who had once stood behind her -Wendy was the key. She had to live.

His men rushed to summon help.

We can’t stay here,Eliza hissed. Wendy’s collapse means Cramer will turn on us next. He won’t allow her to survive.

I’ve already booked flights back home,Nolan said, his jaw tight. Cramer’s men won’t catch us.”

They had trusted Cramer only because he wanted Wendy destroyed. But if she was captured alive, he would see her as a threatand them as obstacles.

Back in their homeland, Henry received Eliza’s overseas call.

Wendy was in custody. At last, the truth was within reach.
