In the main hall, the disobedient maids were stripped and lashed with rattan rods, their punishment a brutal spectacle.

Vivian, drawn by the noise, hurried downstairs. She froze at the sight, her hand flying to her mouth. She had never imagined Cramer could be so ruthless.

Eliza and Nolan also emerged from their room, their faces grave.

Vivian rushed over to Eliza, eyes wide. “Ms. Rivers, look-!”

Eliza had expected this. She knew the kind of man Cramer was.

Those maids had stolen Vivian’s credit and mocked her behind her back. Cramer despised betrayal above all. Loyalty was his bottom line.

“You don’t need to worry about this,” Eliza told Vivian calmly. “They brought it on themselves. You protected them earlier, but they never felt grateful. Some people are rotten to the core.
