The Invisible Wife Turned Savage
Chapter 116 Try Me One More Time
At least Estella didn’t have to worry about Nathaniel bothering her anymore.
Finished
And if he and Isabelle were still together after all that back–and–forth, well–clearly, they were meant for each other.
Estella couldn’t be happier. Let them stay together forever.
Jonathan smiled warmly as he walked her to her front door. His gaze was gentle but steady as he said softly, “I’ve got to head back to the office tonight. You’ve had a long day too–get some rest. Good night.”
Since getting back from his trip, his desk had been buried in paperwork.
If he didn’t catch up soon, it could slow down his other cases.
Hearing that he was still working this late made Estella’s eyes widen. She looked at him with concern. “It’s already so late, and you’re still going back to work? I get that your job’s important, but you need to take care of yourself too!”
Since the day she met Jonathan, she’d been shocked by how hard he worked. It felt like he was constantly working overtime, never slowing down, never taking a break.
Jonathan’s heart warmed at her concern. He smiled. “Don’t worry. I’ll take care of myself.”
He gave her a little wave and turned to leave.
Estella headed inside. She had just finished showering and was drying her hair when the doorbell suddenly rang.
Could Jonathan have come back? Maybe he forgot something?
She quickly threw on a jacket and hurried to the door.
But to her surprise, it wasn’t Jonathan standing there.
It was Nathaniel.
He was dressed in a sleek tux, clearly just back from a formal event.
His face was flushed–probably from drinking.
Estella instinctively tightened her grip on the door handle.
Nathaniel looked miserable and lost, his brow furrowed as he mumbled, “Stella… I feel awful…”

Estella frowned, already irritated.
She didn’t say a word–just started closing the door.
But Nathaniel, almost like he knew it was coming, quickly reached out and stopped the door from closing.
He stared at her, eyes locked on hers.
Seconds ticked by. Neither moved. The tension stretched on in silence.
At last, Nathaniel slowly lowered his hand from the door. His face was twisted in hurt.
His voice was low, almost pleading. “Stella, can I come in for just a few minutes? Even five would be enough…”
Estella didn’t even flinch. Her tone was ice–cold. “No.”
Nathaniel let out a bitter laugh.
Then he looked up at her. “Estella, I thought… I thought what we had was real. Even with all the misunderstandings, I thought we could still make it work.”
Estella’s patience snapped. “Nathaniel, seriously–wake up. We broke up a long time ago. You’re with Isabelle now. So stop pretending you can have your cake and eat it too.”
Nathaniel’s eyes lit up. “You care that I’m with Isabelle. You’re jealous, aren’t you? That means you still love me, right? You didn’t leave because it was over–you left to show me what it’s like to lose you. To punish me for how cold I was. To make me realize how much you mattered. You wanted me to realize what I lost, to beg you to come back-”
Estella’s gaze turned icy. “Are you kidding me? You think I’m here to play some sad love story where the girl forgives the guy who broke her heart? I’m not that girl. When I say I’m done with someone, I mean it. So unless you want me chasing you out of here with a broom, I suggest you walk away. Now.”
Nathaniel stared at her, stunned. He hadn’t expected her to be this cold.
Suddenly, he grabbed her arm and yanked her toward him, lowering his head in an attempt to kiss her.
But Estella reacted instantly. Her hand darted toward the cabinet by the entryway and grabbed her pepper spray.
