After Estella’s name was cleared, many of the netizens who had once condemned her flooded back with apologies.
But just as many began speculating–was this all just a publicity stunt?
Even though the label of “homewrecker” had been wiped away, Estella and Selene’s arts center had suffered massive damage from the storm.
Jonathan took her to confront Wendy, demanding compensation for the losses she’d caused.
Wendy was in a foul mood. The online narrative had completely reversed.
She had thought she could destroy Estella’s business, make her pay for stealing Jonathan.
But Jonathan had acted swiftly, helping Estella escape the trap.
Just as she was seething, her assistant came in. “Estella and Jonathan are here.”
She didn’t want to face them–but she had no choice.
When Wendy saw Jonathan, her eyes welled up with tears instantly.
She looked like a frightened, remorseful little girl, lips quivering. “Jonathan… you finally came
to see me.”
But Jonathan’s expression didn’t change in the slightest. His gaze remained as cold as ice.
“You’ve gone too far this time,” he said sternly. “What you did crossed a legal line.”
Wendy’s last flicker of hope was extinguished.
She had never imagined that Jonathan would come in like this–offering no comfort, not even a chance to explain. Only harsh condemnation.
“Do
you have to treat me like this? I tried to kill myself for you once, and you never even came to see me. And now, all I did was teach Estella a small lesson, and you’re here tearing into me?”
Jonathan frowned. “A small lesson? What gives you the right to teach Estella anything?”
Wendy was speechless, her eyes brimming with tears.
Estella looked at her, her voice firm. “Ms. Wendy, I know you like Jonathan. I know you resent

me because of that. But that doesn’t justify what you did. The arts center is my and Selene’s blood, sweat, and tears. What you did was no different than murder.”
Wendy glared at her, teeth clenched. “No different than murder? And what about you stealing the man I love? Isn’t that the same as killing me? If you hurt me, why should I be kind to you?”
Jonathan turned to Estella. “Wendy acts on extreme emotions. Her logic doesn’t work like a normal person’s. Don’t waste your time with her. Just let the law take care of it.”
Estella was surprised by how calm he was.
She had thought that, since Wendy had liked him for so many years, Jonathan would hesitate.
But he didn’t.
He looked straight at Wendy, expression frozen. “You’ve already hurt Estella before. And this time, you paid people to slander her, nearly destroying her mentally and professionally. I’m going to represent Estella and file a lawsuit. You’ll compensate her for her losses–and face legal consequences.”
Wendy froze.
She couldn’t believe Jonathan was really going to sue her–for Estella.
“Jonathan…”
Her voice trembled like her whole world was falling apart.
“You’re really going to do this? For her? She means that much to you, and I mean that little?”
Jonathan’s tone remained distant. “Even if she weren’t someone I cared about–if you had done
this to a complete stranger–I’d still press charges. It’s my job. It’s the bare minimum of my moral code as a lawyer.”
Wendy’s heart shattered. She nearly collapsed.
Shortly after, the police arrived and took her in for questioning.
Following the investigation, the charges stuck. Wendy was detained.
When Estella heard the news, she asked Jonathan, “Will this affect you? I mean, Wendy’s parents might come after you
After all, Wendy was from a wealthy, powerful family.
Jonathan didn’t seem concerned. “The Moore family wouldn’t dare make a move against me. But you… it’s your work that really took a hit, right?”
