Chapter 158 Wilson’s Betrayal

Victoria brought up the old topic again, insisting Wilson should go help Estella.

When Estella refused, Victoria threw a fit and even went days without eating.

In the end, Estella had no choice but to compromise, letting Wilson start as an assistant.

Victoria still wasn’t satisfied, complaining it was beneath him.

Estella, however, told her calmly, If Wilson feels it’s beneath him, he can leave anytime.

That shut Victoria up.

One afternoon, Estella went out for lunch and ran into Nathaniel.

His face lit up. Estella, what a coincidence! Let’s eat together.

He spoke as if all their past conflicts had never happened, his expression natural and inviting.

Estella refused. No, Mr. Hartwell. Our relationship isn’t suited to sharing a meal.

Nathaniel blocked her path. Estella, I’ve been reflecting. I did many things wrong before, but I’m changing. I hope you’ll give me another chance.

Her expression was cool. Does Isabelle know you’re here?

His face stiffened.

Estella gave a faint laugh. See? You haven’t changed at all. You want everything her family’s support and me too. Honestly, it’s disgusting. I don’t know how Isabelle puts up with you. I certainly couldn’t.

With that, she pushed past him and walked away.

She stopped at a restaurant, bought a bowl of noodle soup togo, and returned to the office.

She was halfway through eating when Wilson walked in carrying several premium takeout boxes.

Her brows drew together immediately.

Wilson set the boxes on her desk and began unpacking them, revealing an array of fragrant, colorful dishes from an upscale private restaurant.

I ran into someone downstairs,he explained. It was Mr. Hartwell from the floor above. I heard he runs a huge company! No idea why he suddenly moved here. Anyway, we talked for a while, and he had his assistant buy me all this food. I thought I’d share it with you.”

Estella’s gaze went cold.

From now on, don’t talk to him. Don’t touch anything he gives you either.

Wilson blinked in confusion. Why not? Mr. Hartwell seems nice. I can tell he likes you. Why not give him a chance?

Estella’s voice hardened. Wilson, if you want to keep working here, stay out of my private life. Don’t ask questions. Take this food away.

Wilson’s face fell.

He had thought Estella might finally soften toward Nathaniel, which would give him a chance to benefit as well. But clearly, she despised him.

Reluctantly, he packed up the boxes and left.

Back at his desk, he hesitated, then pulled out his phone and sent Nathaniel a message:

Mr. Hartwell, I brought the food to Estella, but she wouldn’t eat it.

Nathaniel replied quickly: It’s fine, Wilson. Let’s meet up sometime.”

Wilson’s spirits lifted. For someone of Mr. Hartwell’s stature to treat him like a connection was exhilarating.

The truth was, his mother had lied to Victoria.

His father had gone bankrupt long ago. They had only come now because they heard Estella had started her own business.

Victoria trusted them blindly, but Estella remained wary.

Wilson’s salary as an assistant barely covered his expenses. But if he could curry favor with Mr. Hartwell, maybe he could get much more.

With that thought, he ignored Estella’s warning completely.

Meanwhile, Isabelle went to Hartwell Group to see Nathaniel. When she learned he wasn’t there, she frowned. Where is he?
