Isabelle clenched her teeth. “She refused you because she’s still hung up on Nathaniel?”

Isaac shook his head. “I don’t think so. She doesn’t seem like the type to go back to an ex. Anyway, aren’t you trying to tie Nathaniel down? Hartwell Group has been pushing for a partnership with Bennett Group. If you can help him secure it, maybe he’ll start to see you differently.”
“Bennett Group?” Isabelle frowned. “Even you couldn’t manage that. How could I possibly pull it off?”
“I heard Madam Rosemary is in Javerton,” Isaac said. “You could try approaching her. She won’t
I’m just a man she has no reason to welcome. But you, she might accept.”

Isaac hoped his sister would put her energy into business instead of chasing Nathaniel. If she could win over Madam Rosemary, it would benefit both the Monroe family and the Hartwell family. He wanted to see if Isabelle could handle it.
Isabelle thought about how Nathaniel had been colder to her lately and decided to gamble.
If she could really secure the project, maybe Nathaniel would finally look at her differently.
And if Hartwell Group was busy working with Bennett Group, Nathaniel would have no time left for Estella.
She knew Nathaniel was a practical man. As long as she remained useful, he wouldn’t be able to leave her.
“I understand,” Isabelle told Isaac. “I’ll give it my all.”
She went to Nathaniel first.
When he saw her, his face was frosty.
He knew she had come to confront him about moving his office, so he stayed silent, waiting for her to snap.
But Isabelle surprised him with her calm. She acted as if nothing had happened. “Nathaniel, you’re just changing your work environment? This place seems nice. Is it because it’s close to the hospital where Madam Rosemary is staying? Easier for you to visit her?”
Nathaniel blinked. “Madam Rosemary?”

“Yes,” Isabelle said smoothly. “She’s here in Javerton. And didn’t you say Hartwell Group wanted to work with Bennett Group? Jeremy already turned you down, but we could approach Madam Rosemary instead. I was just thinking of visiting her would you like to come with me?”
Nathaniel nodded. “You’re right. We shouldn’t give up on Bennett Group so easily. Since Madam Rosemary is here, we have to seize the chance.”
He agreed to go with her.
As they passed the floor where Estella’s office was located, Isabelle said deliberately, “Nathaniel, are you still not over Estella?”
He didn’t answer.
Putting on a generous front, Isabelle said, “I know you and Estella were together for three years. Of course there were feelings. I treated her badly before out of jealousy, but I know now that it’s over between you. I won’t target her anymore.”
The word “over” left a sour taste in Nathaniel’s chest.
But because of the Monroe family’s power, he endured it.
No matter what Isabelle said, he wasn’t going to give up Estella.
If Isabelle couldn’t accept that, there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t control his heart.
They bought fruit and flowers near the hospital, intending to pay respects to Madam Rosemary.
But the bodyguards at the door refused to let them in.
“She can’t stay in her room all day,” Isabelle whispered to Nathaniel. “She’ll come out for a walk. Let’s wait here.”
Nathaniel agreed.
Isabelle treasured the rare chance to sit alone with him, her face full of cheer.
But Nathaniel’s expression stayed cold, his body language distant.
Once, he had welcomed her presence. Now he felt only resistance.
That was the way of the heart – once love was withdrawn, even pretending became exhausting.
