Chapter 184 The Kidnapping
Jonathan agreed at once. “That works, Grandma. I’ll keep an eye out for you.”
Madam Rosemary raised a brow, surprised at his sudden cagerness. “You’re always so busy. Why are you getting involved in this?”
He answered without hesitation. “She saved you, Grandma. I have to repay that kindness. somehow.”

She chuckled, satisfied. “Then I’ll leave it to you. And don’t worry, I’ve got This isn’t coming out of your pocket.”
Born into an old, wealthy family, she had brought half her dowry into the Bennett household when she married. Money was never something she lacked.
Jonathan stayed to chat with her a little longer before his phone buzzed. A message had come through on WhatsApp–from the owner of the dessert shop nearby.
She had added him after he’d bought pastries there, telling him she could arrange delivery if needed.
“Mr. Bennett, I just saw Ms. Hayes being picked up by a luxury car. The man looked familiar— I’ve seen him once or twice before. He followed Ms. Hayes secretly back then. She didn’t seem happy to see him this time either. Maybe you should check on her?”
Living in the same neighborhood for so long, Jonathan had grown familiar with the
shopkeepers. And the dessert shop owner, with her fondness for gossip, had naturally taken an interest in the “young couple” she thought he and Estella were.
Jonathan read the message and knew at once–it had to be Nathaniel.
He called Estella immediately.
No answer.
A cold dread gripped his chest.
“Grandma, something urgent has come up! Get some rest–I’ll be back soon.”
Before she could even ask, he had already rushed out the door.
Madam Rosemary frowned at his haste. “What on earth could make him so anxious? Could it be because of that ‘friend‘?”
She beckoned to one of the bodyguards. “Richie, follow Jonathan. Find out what’s going on and

report back.”
If Finished
Richie was tall, broad–shouldered, and not easily crossed. But at the order, he hesitated, clearly uneasy. “Mr. Jonathan doesn’t like being followed. If he finds out, we won’t be able to face his anger.”
Years ago, when Jonathan insisted on studying in Grenton against the family’s wishes, she had sent bodyguards after him in secret. When he discovered it, he’d flown into a rage. Since then, none of them dared cross him lightly.
Jonathan might look mild, but he was firm in his principles.
She rolled her eyes. “If there’s trouble, I’ll take responsibility. Just see who he’s meeting and come straight back.”
Richie had no choice but to obey.
The other bodyguards gave him sympathetic looks as he left. Richie thought bitterly that fate had truly dealt him the short straw.
Meanwhile, Jonathan was already behind the wheel, phone pressed to his ear.
“In five minutes, I want the security feeds from the streets near my building checked. Find out if Estella got into Nathaniel’s car and where they went.”
The Bennett family had poured investments into Javerton–schools, roads, charities. They were the city’s top taxpayers, and Jonathan’s own law firm thrived there under that shadow.
At first, he had resented his family’s influence reaching into his work, but eventually he accepted it. He was the Bennett family’s second son–he couldn’t change that. So instead, he used it to get things done.
Less than five minutes later, the police chief called back.
Jonathan’s brows knit tight.
Nathaniel had indeed taken Estella.
That bastard.
He ordered the chief to send someone immediately.
