The Invisible Wife Turned Savage novel Chapter 44

Chapter 44 No Forgiveness

Jonathan punched Nathaniel again.

This time, Nathaniel didn’t dodge. He didn’t even fight back.

Jonathan let go of him and said coldly, “Pray she pulls through. Otherwise, you and Hartwell Group…. are finished.”

With that, he turned and walked away without looking back.

Nathaniel staggered to his feet, trying to go find Estella.

But he only made it a few steps before collapsing. Whitney, his assistant, happened to be nearby and rushed over to help.

“Mr. Nathaniel, you’re hurt. Let me take you to a doctor.”

Nathaniel gripped her arm tightly. “Forget me. Go check on Estella. Is it… is it serious?”

Panic had begun to sink into his bones.

He didn’t dare imagine-if something happened to Estella, what would he do?

“… Yes, Mr. Nathaniel. I’ll go now.”

Seeing he wouldn’t budge, Whitney nodded and left as he asked.

The next morning, Estella woke up and saw Jonathan asleep beside her bed.

She tried to speak but her throat was dry and hoarse.

“Mr. Jonathan…”

Jonathan immediately woke up at the sound of her voice.

‘You’re awake! Does your head hurt?”

Estella rasped, “Can you… go check on my mom? I’m worried about her.”

‘Don’t worry. I’ve been visiting her every day. She’s doing fine. I didn’t tell her you were hurt.”

“Thank God…” Estella’s eyes softened. “Thank you, Mr. Jonathan.”

‘Don’t thank me now. Just rest.”

Estella nodded faintly. She wanted to say more, but her head throbbed too hard. She closed her eyes again

to rest.

That afternoon, Jonathan went to visit Victoria on her behalf.

Estella sat up in bed, slowly regaining strength, calmly thinking about what would come next.

She wasn’t afraid of Isabelle pressing charges. Isabelle had crossed a line first. Estella had evidence-the hospital surveillance footage showing Isabelle provoking her mother. If needed, she’d expose it.

She had nothing to fear.

Just then, the door opened.

Nathaniel.

Her face darkened instantly.

He glanced at the bandages around her head, his guilt surfacing-but then he remembered: Estella had attacked Isabelle first. He’d only intervened to stop her from doing worse. That thought made him feel ustified again.

He approached and reached out to touch her head.

Estella slapped his hand away.

His face stiffened.

He forced himself to speak calmly. “Estella, you attacked Isabelle unprovoked. The Monroe family won’t let that slide. I’ll do my best to settle this, but you need to forgive me for hitting you-and go apologize to Isabelle, okay?”

He’d thought this through. An apology from Estella would make Isabelle drop the case, and everything would settle down. He could coax Isabelle afterward.

As for Jonathan’s threats? He didn’t take them seriously. He’s just a lawyer. What can he really do?

‘Apologize?” Estella scoffed. “Why would I? Do you even know what Isabelle did? She provoked my mother and nearly drove her to the edge! I only regret not beating her to death!”

Nathaniel’s expression darkened. “Estella, don’t be so vicious. You threw the first punch!”

Estella’s eyes narrowed with contempt. “You didn’t even bother to investigate, and you want me to apologize? You’re still as disgusting as ever.”

Nathaniel’s temper snapped. “Stop blaming everyone else! Your mother was already unstable. How is that Isabelle’s fault? You nearly beat her to death-have you even thought about the consequences?
