Chapter 62 The One He Can’t Let Go

A few minutes later, the office door opened. Nathaniel walked in, dressed impeccably in a sharp

snit.

Estella stared at him in shock.

What was Nathaniel doing here?

Selene looked equally confused.

Back when Isabelle had still worked at Ruoyin, Selene had met this man before. But after Estella told her Nathaniel was the ex-husband who cheated on her, Selene’s opinion of him had plummeted.

Nathaniel smiled and said, “I heard you two are launching a business. What a coincidence-I happen to be very interested in investing in the arts. Mr. Lewis handed the opportunity over to me. I hope you don’t mind the last-minute change in investor?”

Estella and Selene exchanged looks.

They hadn’t seen this coming.

Selene didn’t care much who the investor was-but Estella’s feelings mattered more to her.

She leaned in and asked quietly, “Estella, what do you think? I’ll go with your decision.”

If Estella didn’t want to get involved with Nathaniel, then that was that. They were building this business together, and it wasn’t worth a rift between them.

Estella stared at Nathaniel, her eyes cool and indifferent.

She could already guess what he was up to. He just wanted to use his position as an investor to manipulate her.

But they were divorced now. She didn’t want to be tangled up with him anymore.

They could find another investor.

She didn’t want Nathaniel’s money.

“We’re not signing this contract,” she said plainly. “Let’s go.”

Selene nodded without protest and followed her toward the door.

Nathaniel’s expression darkened when he saw her turn down his offer. He stepped forward and

grabbed Estella’s hand.

“You really want nothing to do with me?”

Estella shook him off and said coldly, “That’s right. Not even a little.”

She walked out of the conference room.

Nathaniel tried to follow her, but his assistant suddenly stepped in his way.

“Mr. Nathaniel, Ms. Isabelle said her car got rear-ended. She wants you to come.”

Nathaniel didn’t even acknowledge her words.

He shoved Whitney aside and chased after the fading figure ahead of him.

Whitney watched in astonishment as he ran after Estella.

This was the first time Mr. Nathaniel had chosen Estella… instead of Isabelle.

Estella and Selene stepped into the elevator.

Just as the doors were about to close, Nathaniel’s hand shot between them, forcing them open.

His gaze locked onto Estella like a predator.

Even Selene beside her felt a shiver. She was genuinely nervous for Estella.

But Estella remained calm. “Is there something else?”

Without warning, Nathaniel grabbed Selene and yanked her out. Then he stepped inside the elevator himself.

The doors closed behind him.

Selene stood outside, stunned. What just happened?

Inside the elevator, Nathaniel and Estella stared each other down.

His eyes were intense. “Tell me what I have to do to make you come back.”

Estella’s expression didn’t change. “Why do you want me back?”

She was done being disappointed in him. Her heart had long gone quiet.

He’d never had any real feelings for her.

Two people who didn’t love each other should never have stayed married.

The fact that he was clinging to this loveless marriage was downright laughable.

Nathaniel was caught off guard by her question.

Why?

He’d never even thought about it.

He just knew-she was his.

She could only belong to him. No one else.

Estella saw he had no answer and her expression hardened. “Nathaniel, stop bothering me. I’ll never go back to you. Get rid of that disgusting possessiveness of yours. I’m not your property, and you don’t get to control me.”

The elevator reached the ground floor.

The doors opened. She pushed him aside and walked out.

He turned and watched her until she vanished from view.

His fists clenched tight.

For the first time, he wondered if what he felt for Estella wasn’t just possessiveness.

If not, then why did he want her back so badly?
