The soft breeze lifted Wendy’s hair, giving her an even more alluring, graceful look.

The driver, who had been waiting, quickly stepped forward to take her luggage, carefully placing it in the car’s trunk.

Wendy stood calmly in place, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear with natural elegance. As her hand fell away, her flawless face was fully revealed, lips curled into a self-assured smile.

“To Luminary Partners & Co.,” she said in a light, clear voice.

The thought of finally seeing Jonathan again stirred a bubbling excitement inside her.

Jonathan woke to daylight filtering through the curtains.

His gaze landed on the glass on his nightstand, and memories of the night before came rushing back-Estella had brought him home.

He frowned, pressing a hand to his temple, trying to ease the dull ache blooming in his skull.

The shame hit him next. He’d gone out drinking with Jeremy, thinking it’d be a chance to talk things through—especially about Estella and her ex-husband. But he’d gotten drunk instead, missing the opportunity entirely.

Rubbing his forehead in frustration, he groaned softly.

A message pinged on WhatsApp.

He unlocked his phone and saw the sender: Wendy.

“Jonathan, I’m in Javerton! Came just to see you!”

Wendy sat with effortless poise on a leather couch in the firm’s lounge. Her legs were crossed at the ankle, a faint, composed smile on her lips.

Passing lawyers stole glances at her, murmuring under their breath and wondering who this unfamiliar woman was.

But Wendy acted as if she belonged there-as though the office, the entire space, had always been hers. She carried herself with the kind of confidence that blurred the lines between guest and hostess.

Soon, the receptionist approached with a steaming cup of coffee and handed it to her politely.

Wendy took a small sip, then looked up with a gentle smile. “Mm… it’s a little too sweet. I prefer half sugar, maybe with a couple of ice cubes. That gives it a much cleaner finish, don’t you think? Could you note that for next time?”

The receptionist blinked in surprise. She hadn’t seen this woman before-but the way she acted, the designer clothes, the flawless demeanor-it was hard to question her authority.

Everyone had assumed Mr. Jonathan’s girlfriend was the soft-spoken Ms. Estella.

But now?

Trying not to show her confusion, the receptionist nodded with a strained smile. “Of course, Ms. Wendy. I’ll make a note of that. If there’s anything else you need, please let me know.”

With that, she turned and hurried away.

Jonathan arrived at the office promptly at nine.

He wore a sharply tailored suit, its fine material glinting subtly in the light. Every detail was impeccable, from the smooth lapels to the perfectly pressed crease of his trousers. He walked with calm confidence, radiating poise and restraint.

Wendy spotted him immediately.
