Chapter 75 The Thorn in His Side

Wendy batted her large, sparkling eyes at Jonathan and gave him a hopeful look, her expression soft and full of expectation.

But Jonathan’s face remained impassive, his gaze cold as ice, as though nothing around him had anything to do with him.

“I’m busy,” he said flatly. “If you don’t have anything important to say, please leave.”

Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked toward his office, every step firm and final, making it clear he didn’t intend to linger even a second longer.

But Wendy chased after him, unfazed.

She beamed, her eyes curving into charming crescents. “Oh, come on! I just wanted to see how you work. We can have lunch together too!”

Jonathan’s irritation only deepened. Her relentless cheerfulness didn’t move him-it grated on him.

He couldn’t understand why she kept clinging to him after he’d rejected her so many times.

All he wanted now was to shake her off.

Yet even hours later, Wendy was still there.

Staring out the window, Jonathan realized with a scowl that she hadn’t left. His already sour

mood sank even lower.

Grimacing, he picked up his phone and called Jeremy.

“What’s up?” Jeremy’s voice came through, calm and steady.

“Wendy’s here. She’s been sitting in my office for two hours,” Jonathan growled. “You need to think of something and get her out of here.”

Just thinking about how Wendy used to follow him around like a shadow when they were kids gave him a headache.

Back then, Jeremy was always the one with clever tricks to get rid of her.

So now, Jonathan turned to him again.

Jeremy chuckled on the other end. “So she really came to see you, huh?”

Leaning back in his chair with a smug grin, he folded his arms. “Honestly, this might be the perfect opportunity. Why not use Wendy to test how Estella feels about you?”

He drummed his fingers on a folder as he spoke, clearly pleased with his own scheme.

Thinking back to the night before, Jeremy felt even more certain.

Estella had come rushing to pick Jonathan up without hesitation. That had to mean something.

Jeremy’s smile deepened. His little brother just might have a chance after all.

But Jonathan frowned, unimpressed. “I won’t use another woman to test Estella. That would hurt her.”

He believed in keeping his feelings honest-he didn’t play games.

Jeremy sighed, exasperated. “You’re too naïve. Sometimes, in love, a little trickery is necessary. But fine, if you’re not up for it, we’ll try something else.”

He knew how stubborn Jonathan could be.

No wonder he still hadn’t won Estella over.

That morning, Estella and Selene were tidying up their new studio.
