Though his voice remained cold, Jonathan knew all too well-when his older brother said he was going to do something, he meant it. If he didn’t give in, Jeremy really would loiter around and make it impossible to get any work done today.
With a sigh, Jonathan stood up slowly, his expression one of reluctant defeat as he looked at the smug grin on his brother’s face.
Jeremy laughed like he’d just conquered a city. “Hahaha! I don’t care how busy Bennett Corp is
-I’ve got to make time to care for my baby brother!”
He wasn’t lying. He did care.
But he was also nosy.
Nothing delighted him more than watching his aloof, always-in-control little brother fall headfirst into love like some reckless schoolboy.
Outside the office, Wendy had been waiting anxiously, and the moment she saw Jonathan come out, she rushed up with a bright, beaming smile. “Jonathan! I’ve been waiting forever! Why don’t you let me come along?”
Jonathan barely looked at her before shifting his gaze toward Jeremy, silently begging him to get rid of her.
But Jeremy acted like he hadn’t noticed anything at all. He turned to Wendy with a friendly smile and said, “Wendy, it’s been years, and you’re still hung up on this stiff? I really don’t get it. What is it about him that you like so much?”
Wendy’s cheeks flushed with pink. She let out a playful “Jeremy-” before quickly defending, “Jonathan’s not stiff at all!”
Her voice was full of affection.
Jeremy just chuckled and said, “Well, since you’re already here, why don’t we all go grab lunch together? Jonathan can play host.”
Wendy agreed instantly, her eyes lighting up as she turned toward Jonathan expectantly.
But Jonathan’s expression darkened.
He’d hoped Jeremy would help get rid of her. Instead, his brother had just invited her to tag along.
As they left, Jeremy turned to Wendy and said, “Not many people know we’re brothers. Keep

Wendy nodded obediently. “Got it!”

She didn’t know what they were up to, but if it had to do with Jonathan, she was happy to play along.
Jeremy led them to a bustling Hunan restaurant known for its spicy dishes.
The place was packed, and the smell of chili oil hung in the air.
Jonathan trailed behind with obvious reluctance. He preferred lighter fare and couldn’t care less for anything spicy. As soon as he saw the restaurant’s sign, his brows furrowed deeply.
Wendy hurried up to Jeremy and whispered, “Jeremy, Jonathan doesn’t really like spicy food. Maybe we should pick a different place?”
Even as she spoke, she kept glancing at Jonathan with starry eyes, eager to please.
Wendy herself had a picky palate, but she was always willing to change her preferences to match Jonathan’s.
But Jeremy brushed her off. “This place is perfect! We’re eating here today-no arguments!”
