Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 390

But everyone else was dead, lost in the tragedy. She was the only one left standing, and among the grieving families, her survival felt like an unforgivable sin.

Chandler, completely unhinged by now, kept demanding answers from Zinnia. Why was she still alive, when Zoey was gone?

A moment later, Chandler was struck hard across the face.

Landon’s hands were streaked with blood, his expression defiant as he landed a heavy punch on Chandler.

“Are you out of your mind? No one could have seen this coming. You couldn’t even protect your own wife, so what right do you have to blame mine?”

Chandler took several more hits from Landon, but he never fought back. He simply collapsed onto the ground, his face twisted in pain and despair.

He wanted to cry, but no sound came out. His chest heaved with ragged breaths, as if that was the only way to dull the stabbing ache inside him.

“There’s no reason to blame Zinnia. She survived because she was lucky. That doesn’t give you the right to accuse her.” Yuri, who had been silent until now, finally spoke up.

His sharp gaze, laced with scorn, landed squarely on Chandler. “She and I were kidnapped by Morton’s men that night. If we hadn’t gotten lucky and escaped, we’d be dead too. Instead of blaming the monster who caused all this, you’re attacking Zinnia for making it out alive. Have you no shame?”

Chandler said nothing, utterly hollowed out. He knew he was being unreasonable, but somehow, lashing out at someone—anyone—helped ease the crushing guilt over Zoey’s death.

Yuri’s words hung in the air, and then his eyes flicked to Landon, his expression dimming.

“Landon, you came after all.”

Landon met Yuri’s gaze, recalling the things he’d uncovered about Violet’s involvement on that shipping route, and the bombing that had followed. His eyes grew cold as they settled on Yuri.

He reached out and pulled Zinnia behind him, shielding her instinctively. Locking eyes with Yuri’s mocking stare, he asked, “Are you sure Morton was acting alone with the bombing?”
