Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 391

In Selvoria, apart from the earlier medical team sent over to provide aid, there were still a few Austerland nationals and engineers stationed in the region.

When the UN safe zone was still intact, their safety could be more or less guaranteed. But no one anticipated that Morton’s militia would go this far. If they had the nerve to blow up this safe zone today, who was to say they wouldn’t target another one tomorrow?

In the wake of the attack, every Austerland citizen remaining in Selvoria was now desperate to be escorted back home. Everyone was waiting, bags packed, ready to depart at a moment’s notice.

In addition to the government’s chartered plane, the Ford Group had dispatched its own private rescue jet.

Landon wanted Zinnia to leave on the next flight out. “It’s too dangerous here. Every extra minute you stay puts you at greater risk. Please, just listen to me and go back with the others.”

“Let them go first,” Zinnia insisted.

She glanced at her fellow countrymen, faces etched with fear as they clutched their luggage. She turned back to Landon, her voice steady: “Let them go first. I’ll wait for the next flight. If we still can’t find Zoey by then, I’ll leave.”

She couldn’t justify staying here, putting the rescue team at further risk just for her.

Landon saw her resolve and gave in.

“Fine. But if you’re staying, you stick with me. No exceptions.”

Zinnia nodded obediently.

The rescue operation pressed on, but everyone knew the odds of finding survivors were slim. Still, the team was determined to bring back as many of their people’s remains as possible—every one they could recover mattered.

Zinnia understood the rescue team couldn’t stay much longer, and all she could hope for was to bring a few more home. With that thought weighing on her, she refused to rest. Her palms were raw and bleeding from overwork, but she never considered stopping.

Suddenly, a voice rang out across the ruins, bright with disbelief and hope. “Zinnia!”

She froze mid-swing, looking up. Through the dust and blood, she saw Zoey’s face—streaked with grime and dried blood, but her eyes shone with the unmistakable brightness of someone who had survived against all odds.
