To protect what's mine (Amalie) novel Chapter 162

Chapter 162

:

Breakfast was delicious. I try not to think too much about the elephant in the room. I focus on rinsing and loading the dishwasher. As soon as we are done cleaning up, Mark hands Rose a small backpack.

My thingies?Rose asks as she puts on the straps. She tries to look over her shoulder at the bag.

I have to bite my lips to keep myself from cooing at how cute she looks. In the fall she will look so cute as she goes off to preschool.

All packed,Uncle Mike smiles. I even put some snacks in there for you.

Rose nods her head as she makes her way to the front door.

Why do I feel like I’m sending Rose off to school?I ask as I follow her.

Because it kinda does. Her bag has snacks and art supplies to keep her busy at the pack house while we work,Mark says as he follows me. He places a quick kiss on my cheek before he picks up Rose.

You ready?Cal asks as he joins us at the front door.

Yes,I say with a nod. I am ready to get out of the house.

Kira is meeting us at the pack house,Mark says as he walks down the steps.

What is she going to be doing?I ask in confusion. I know I said that she was going to be there, I was just curious. as to the extent of she was going to be doing.

You both are going to meet with Michelle about running the pack house,Cal tells.

I try not to sigh at the statement that I have to do something. But I do remember that the head Omega has been pestering my mates about me meeting with her. Beren tries not bristle at being told what to do.

We make our way to the pack house. It’s mid morning, so the place is bustling with activity. Warriors are running in and out of the house. There is a group of teens playing soccer in the empty field beside the house.

An Omega shouts from the deck, Ya better not hit the pack house with that ball!

Yes ma’am,several shout in reply.

Boys, the Omega says as she catches sight of our group.

Michelle,Mark and Cal chorus together.

Ma’am,I say as I realize that this is the head Omega.

Chapter 162

Let’s have a look at ya,Michelle says as she looks over me. Ya look just like your grandma.

Thank you,I choke out. I am not going to cry. I’m not.

Let’s get to it,she says with a nod of her head. Ya boys head on in. We’ll be in the kitchen if ya need us.She takes my hand and leads me into the pack house.

Rose, stay with your dads,I shout before I am dragged inside.

The twins laugh a little at my plight, but don’t stop the head Omega from dragging me to the kitchen. Kira is already waiting in the kitchen. She has flour all over her head and shirt.

About time, she grumbles with a slight smile. She is rolling out cookie dough. I’ve been here since seven and it’s now nine.

Alright, how much do ya know baking and cooking?Michelle asks me with an eyebrow raised before I am able to respond to Kira.

My grandmother taught me,I tell her.

Good, she smirks. Maybe ya can get Sheila working properly. She points towards the stove where another Omega is absent mindlessly stirring a pot.

I nod my head and walk over to the middle aged she wolf. I was far enough away that she did not hear Michelle and I come into the large, industrial, kitchen.

What?she snaps as she sees me approaching her.

I force a smile onto my face. I need to get the Omegas here at the pack house to like me. Coming in here and barking orders is not going to win me any favors. Also, she probably doesn’t recognize me from the night I was introduced to the pack. Hi, I’m-I start before I am interrupted.

I don’t care about your life story. Michelle put you in my care and so that means you listen to me. The lunch rush will be coming in soon. That means the outgoing border patrol will be in and those that are finishing up with morning training with the Delta. You will not embarrass me,she snarls quietly so Michelle does not hear. Then once that rush dies down, we have fifteen minutes before the second rush comes in.

I want to growl back, as does Beren. But I take a deep breath. Maybe she is having a rough day and just needs some kindness.

I am about to say something when she cuts me off. Get to work. Stir the soup while I get the seasoning, she orders before she walks over to the walkin pantry. She is gone for ten minutes before she comes back.

Yep, Sheila is a bitch. It takes me less than thirty minutes to reach that conclusion.

Every time I try to correct her cooking, she snarls a threat at me. She snarls about how she is a personal friend of the Alphas and how she will get me fired. Sheila tells me that her daughter might be picked as the one of the next
