Raymond's antics were so loud that they caught the attention of the fans in another section.
David had only planned to watch quietly, but Raymond was impossible to ignore.
Following Raymond's gaze to the two racers getting ready on the track, David's expression turned sullen. "Noelle? Who's the one behind her?"
Beside him, Chris answered, "Noelle's on the national team. She won the league championship before. Nobody had heard of her until a couple of months ago, then she suddenly popped up online and got really popular.
"The one behind her should be Alexis Tates, the Rookie of the Year from last year's basic training camp. She's young, but her skills are solid."
David's eyes narrowed. "Since when did Raymond start hanging around with national team racers?"
The thought unsettled him. Could Noelle and Alexis really be the mysterious Number 7 and Number 9 from before?
Even though Number 7 and Number 9 had disguised their faces during that underground race, Noelle's presence made his suspicion flare.
He still remembered the humiliation Number 7 had brought him!
After that event, he'd sent people to track them down, but they couldn't dig up a single clue. It was like they'd vanished into thin air.
And as much as Raymond loved racing, he'd never gone this crazy over any racer before.
Especially not a woman.
David ordered coldly, "Have someone find out exactly who this Noelle really is." His expression was vicious. Even if he had to turn the world upside down, he would drag Number 7 out into the light.
…
Once Noelle hit the track, she stayed close behind Alexis. She figured the racer from Norland wouldn't be that simple. Otherwise, why would he line up for back-to-back heats?
She carefully controlled her pace.
Alexis' skills were strong and didn't need much watching over. Even if something went wrong, she could handle it. And if she couldn't, Noelle would be there to back her up.
As expected, Alexis took the lead.
Noelle finally relaxed, but soon, she caught sight of the racer from Norland giving her a knowing smile. Her heart leaped into her throat.
