Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 31

The next day, Noelle headed for Thunderbolt Racing's training hall after she'd changed the dressing on her wounds.

The captain of Thunderbolt Racing, Shannon, was inside the hall and training with her teammates. When Noelle showed up, the rest of the team immediately put their gear down and shot her wary looks.

Shannon flashed them a placating smile. "Don't be so nervous. Ms. Quinn is only here to talk to me."

They were on Thunderbolt Racing's training grounds, after all. Shannon bet Noelle wouldn't start any trouble on someone else's turf.

Upon hearing this, the rest of Thunderbolt Racing resumed their training.

Noelle looked grim as she approached Shannon, whose lips curled in smug anticipation as she met the former halfway. "I heard you fell into a pit last night, Ms. Quinn. Judging by your injuries, you must have had quite a bad fall.

"Your fingers look like baby carrots with all those layers of bandages. How will you join the league championship in such a state?"

Noelle let out a derisive snort. "It's all thanks to you and your team. I wouldn't have gone to the mountain if you lot hadn't tricked me, let alone been pushed into a ditch. Because of you guys, I was stuck in that ditch for six whole hours."

Shannon's eyes gleamed with wicked delight. She crossed her arms and openly admitted through her taunting, "Go ahead and rat us out, then. Who'll believe you, anyway?

"I have an alibi, and my uncle is one of the league championship's sponsors. Who in their right mind will dare to question or needle me at this juncture?"

This wasn't the first time Shannon had pulled a dirty trick like this. Every racing team was a small community, and whoever it was she had a grudge against, she'd teach them a lesson with her team as back-up. No one had ever dared to fight back.

Even if the coaches caught wind of Shannon's behavior, they had no evidence. She could get away unscathed as long as things didn't get out of hand.

Noelle scoffed. "Is that so?"

She fished out her phone to show Shannon that she'd been recording their conversation right from the start. A subtle smile curved her lips. "Now, what do you think Coach Landaal will make of this recording? Do you think he'd let you keep your role as captain of Thunderbolt Racing?"

Shannon blanched and immediately reached for Noelle's phone.

Noelle raised her arm and locked her phone. As the screen turned black, she shoved her phone into her pocket and cut Shannon off.

"The league championship is the day after tomorrow. I hope you'll meet me on the tracks." She fixed Shannon with an icy look. "If you don't, I'll not only give Coach Landaal this recording, but also put it up on the International Grand Prix forum."

"Did you really think you'd covered your tracks?" Noelle's lips curled as she continued, "There were no security cameras or reception in that area, but I've been recording the footage on my phone since you showed up."

The blood drained from Shannon's face as she beheld Noelle with wide, nervous eyes. "You knew we were going to cause you trouble right from the start?"
