Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 34

Clifford had come looking for Noelle, but now, he felt only disappointment. He even felt disgusted by her. He never expected her to stoop so low.

"Forget about it, Mr. Fuller. We came here for business, remember? There's no point in getting upset over someone who isn't worth your time," Lola said, batting tearful eyes at Clifford. "Seeing you like this will only break my heart."

Clifford softened at these words. When his gaze slid back to Lola, his anger and resentment vanished.

Lola had been extremely considerate of him and even looked after Zayne to the best of her ability recently. She wouldn't have gone to such lengths if she didn't like Clifford.

The scales in Clifford's heart began to tip in Lola's favor.

Noelle and Jude entered the hotel. After getting into the elevator, she took the shopping bags from him, seemingly embarrassed as she said, "You shouldn't have gone through all that trouble to pick me up. I was only out shopping nearby."

She thought it was unnecessary for Jude to have done that.

But Jude eyed her solemnly. "The championship's tomorrow, and you're the strongest candidate in our training camp. Things are already pretty hard for you on account of your recent injuries, so how could I not take extra care of you?"

Noelle's nose prickled. Jude had always been kind and thoughtful to his team, like a father with his children.

He saw Noelle to her room before leaving. The championship was in less than a day, and the last thing he wanted was for her to get hurt again.

Noelle decided to drop by the hotel gym for some training. She planned to leave after dark to grab dinner downstairs.

The other racers had already left to watch the preliminary races. Those on the tracks today were all regional racers.

After hitting the gym, Noelle saw Hunter's message, informing her that the sponsor had dropped off the uniform for the race that would happen the following day. Everyone else had taken theirs, so he offered to send hers to her room.

She didn't want to trouble him and told him to leave it with the front desk. She was about to head down for dinner anyway.

Noelle showered in the gym before swinging by the front desk to grab her team uniform. She'd just arrived on the first floor when she saw an old foreigner speaking to the receptionist.

The man was sweating buckets while explaining, but the receptionist had no idea what he was saying.

People were gathering to watch.

Noelle recognized the language the old man was speaking. He was speaking Erilean.
