Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 35

Not long after that, Noelle helped the old man file a report and waited with him for the police to show up and investigate.

The old man's name was Miguel Santiago, and he'd come to Stonegate with his son and grandson on the former's business trip.

However, Miguel's son got caught up with work the last few days and hadn't been around, leaving Miguel to tour the city with his grandson.

Although Miguel didn't speak a word of Sidranian, his son and grandson did. As such, his seven-year-old grandson, Luis Santiago, had been communicating on his behalf the last few days.

But Luis had left earlier today to buy ice cream from the convenience store. Migeul waited over an hour for the little boy to return, but he never did.

Miguel panicked and began to search for Luis everywhere, but he couldn't find the boy. Exasperated after his calls had failed to reach Luis, he decided to ask the front desk for help.

He was lucky he'd run into Noelle, who spoke Erilean, or he might have wasted even more time.

The police showed up shortly after. Noelle became Miguel's interpreter, and in the end, they managed to locate Luis' whereabouts.

As it turned out, Luis hadn't gone missing at all. He'd simply gone looking for his father, and they were having dinner together.

They thought Miguel was resting in the hotel all this time, and Luis couldn't help but grouse, "I told you I was going to look for dad!"

Miguel couldn't stop wiping the sweat from his forehead. It wasn't until he'd heard Luis' voice that he let out a sob. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if something had happened to Luis in another country.

Noelle thought there was something odd about Miguel's behavior. When Miguel's son asked to speak to her so he could thank her properly, she took the phone and said in unfaltering Sidranian, "I believe your father may have Alzheimer's. Perhaps you should keep an eye on him."

Miguel's son, Carlos Santiago, thanked her profusely before hanging up. The receptionist then escorted Miguel to his room.

The police thanked Noelle after taking down her statement. The hotel also gave her a complimentary fruit platter and dining coupon, along with a guaranteed 30% discount on all her future stays.

While Noelle had little to no interest in these gifts, she was happy to be rewarded for her help. She thanked the receptionist, took the team uniform, and made to leave.

However, she turned to find Clifford and Zayne still hovering in the lobby. They'd listened to her whole conversation with Miguel, his family, and the police.

Clifford shot her a bewildered look. "When did you learn to speak Erilean?"

More to the point, she was fluent in Sidranian, too, which was jarring considering he was led to believe she hadn't received higher education.
