Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 87

"We've got a problem, Mr. Hunter!" Gale finally managed to track down Hunter at his home in Hardington. Hunter was playing with Bonnie in the living room. Gale immediately pulled his foot back when he realized that the floor was littered with blocks.

Hunter shot Gale a cool gaze as he ruffled Bonnie's hair. "Stay here. There's something I need to discuss with Gale."

Bonnie nodded, looking well-behaved. "You go ahead, Daddy. Don't worry about me."

Only then did Hunter amble toward the door. Gale whispered in his ear, "Ms. Quinn is in trouble!"

A chill flashed in Hunter's eyes. He cast a look back at Bonnie as his tone took on a dangerous edge. "We talk somewhere else."

The two of them walked further away.

Gale laid out the situation in just a few words before saying with great concern, "Normally, an investigation like this wouldn't need Brindley's task force's involvement. But this time, even Maxine came along."

He felt worried. "Could this be the Haberkorn's way of forcing your hand?"

Gale let out a sigh. "If Ms. Quinn ends up with a criminal record, her chances of going international would be even slimmer. Why don't you talk to the Haberkorns, Mr. Hunter? Tell them not to make things so hard for her…"

Hunter swept Gale a cold glance, eyes carrying a crushing weight.

A few seconds later, he said icily, "I never once thought of going back ever since I walked out."

Gale was well aware of Hunter's grudge against the Haberkorn family. Returning to their side was out of the question.

"But Ms. Quinn has already been detained for an entire day. Maxine is personally interrogating her. If we're even a step too late…"

To make matters worse, Jude wasn't present at the intensive training camp at this time.

Hunter's tone grew colder still. "I'll speak with the task force myself."

Gale was surprised. There was no need for Hunter to personally show up for something like this. All it would take was a single word from him, and there'd be people handling it on his behalf.

His choice to go himself made it clear that no one could ever take Noelle's place in his heart.

Gale immediately caught on and picked up his phone. "I'll have Juned bring the car around."

Hunter walked to the door and gave the nanny a few instructions. Bonnie stared at him. "Daddy, are you going to see Mommy?"

Hunter tapped her nose. "I'm going to see someone I love."

Bonnie immediately grabbed the hem of his shirt. "Take me with you, Daddy!"
