Hunter stepped out of the passenger seat, his expression hard and unyielding. "Bring me the person in charge."
The security guard didn't waste a second. He stumbled off in a panic to fetch the person in charge. That license plate alone made it clear that Hunter was someone he couldn't afford to cross!
At this hour, most of the task force's staff were already off-duty. Only the few people who were working overtime were still around. As the person in charge of this investigation, Maxine immediately straightened herself up and headed out upon hearing that someone from the military had come.
But the moment she realized it was Hunter, she spun on her heel and hurried back to fix her makeup.
Hunter was an incredibly striking man. With him standing at 6'2", he was nothing if not an oppressive presence.
He leaned against the car door while fiddling with a lighter. Soon, the head of Hardington's task force, Xavier Peyton, came hurrying out. He was all smiles as he greeted Hunter. "If it isn't Mr. Haberkorn! What brings you out here tonight?"
As the head of the task force, it came as no surprise that Xavier knew Hunter. The former knew Hunter had some connection to the Haberkorns of Brindley, though he didn't know the exact depths of the connection.
No one from the task force had ever dared to lay a finger on Hunter throughout the years.
Hunter crossed his arms and said indifferently, "I heard a team member of mine, Noelle Quinn, was brought here for questioning. It's been a full day. Isn't it time to let her go?"
His expression was cold and severe. "Or are you planning to keep her locked up here, delay her training, and bar her from participating in the International Grand Prix?"
Xavier wiped the sweat from his brow as he grew flustered. "This must be a misunderstanding, Mr. Haberkorn. Why don't you come inside for a bit while I get to the bottom of this?"
Hunter wore an icy expression. His foreboding demeanor was unsettling.
But he decided to follow Xavier into the office since the latter seemed deferential. Juned, who was behind Hunter, surveyed the area before following him.
Gale, who was in the car behind, cast a glance at Bonnie sitting in the passenger seat. "Your dad's already gone in. I'll go take a look. Stay in the car and don't make a sound."
Bonnie nodded obediently. "Don't worry, Mr. Gale. I know Daddy is busy with work. I won't be a bother."
Gale ruffled her hair and handed her a cheese stick. After rolling down the car windows, he got out and followed after Hunter.
Bonnie nibbled the cheese stick and sat quietly in the car so no one would notice her.
