When Your Cheating Husband's Dream Become Your Divorce Evidence novel Chapter 37

Chapter 6

Just then, the pounding on the door started up again.

Harper went to answer it.

“Oh… hi, Mr. and Mrs. Hartwell…”

I turned around to see both sets of parents.

Kaden’s mom looked pissed as hell. The second she saw me, she went off.

“What the hell is going on? Cora, today’s your ENGAGEMENT PARTY. All the relatives and friends are there waiting, and you just DISAPPEAR?”

“Do you have ANY idea how embarrassing this is? We chose you to be our daughter-in-law because you were supposed to be mature and responsible.”

If I’d known you were this flaky, I never would’ve agreed to this marriage!”

let out a bitter laugh.

From day one, Kaden’s mom never liked me.

The Hartwells were better off than my family. They always wanted someone more “suitable” for their son.

That’s why I’d been walking on eggshells for years, trying to win her over-all wanted her to actually accept me.

Looking back, what a joke.

Mrs. Hartwell, no need to be such a bitch about it. Whether I’m reliable depends on what your precious son’s been up to.”

showed her the photo of Kaden and Tessa kissing.

If you saw your fiancé making out with some other chick the night before your engagement and could still show up the next day with a smile, then I’d be

mpressed.”

If you can’t handle that, then don’t stand there acting all high and mighty.”

You… how DARE you talk to me like that? So disrespectful! Your parents clearly didn’t raise you right!”

Hey, WATCH your mouth! My daughter’s been nothing but good to your family. Your son’s the one who screwed up first!”

My usually mild-mannered dad was shaking with rage as he got in Kaden’s face.

Kaden Hartwell! My Cora gave you everything, and you pull this shit?”

Kaden’s mom coughed.

Even if our boy messed up, he apologized, didn’t he? No need to make such a big deal out of it.”

‘Let’s be real here—what guy doesn’t cheat? You’ve been together ten years. Any other guy would’ve gotten bored ages ago.”

It’s because our Kaden’s been so devoted to Cora all this time. He slips up once, and that’s not forgivable?”

You want a man who’ll never look at another woman? Then stay single forever!”

“MOM! Shut Up!”

Kaden’s face was getting darker by the second.

“This is between me and Cora. Stay out of it.”

“Sweetie, I just can’t stand watching her act all holier-than-thou! She should be grateful to marry into our family! What’s she got to complain about?”

“Say that again, I DARE you!”

My dad was rolling up his sleeves, ready to throw hands.

“ENOUGH!”

I shouted, and everyone went quiet.

“Mrs. Hartwell, I know you’ve looked down on me from the beginning. Thought I wasn’t good enough for Kaden.”

“Well, since we’re never gonna see each other again anyway, let me set the record straight.”

“YOUR precious son was the one who chased after MC, wrote me love letters every damn day, brought me breakfast.”

YOUR precious son was the one who proposed to ME, begged me to marry him.”

“How I treated him all these years-you know damn well.”

YOUR precious son is the one who cheated on me. By rights, you and your husband should be apologizing to ME.”

“Instead, you’re here giving me attitude? Acting like I’m the problem? That’s RICH.”

“Keep pushing me, and I’ll post all the disgusting shit your son did online. Let everyone decide who’s right and who’s wrong.”

With that, I pointed at the door.
