When Your Cheating Husband's Dream Become Your Divorce Evidence novel Chapter 41

Chapter 1

My CEO husband loves dragging his buddies home for dinner. Says it makes us feel like “real family.”

I’m setting down the last dish when one of his friends grins at me.

“Damn, you hit the jackpot with this one, Damon. She’s got that whole wife material thing locked down. Real queen bee vibes.”

I keep my face neutral, but throw out a casual joke.

“Oh really? So there’s some other girl I should be worried about?”

The whole table goes quiet.

catch his boys shooting each other those panicked looks.

But Damon? He just laughs and wraps his arm around me.

Don’t listen to these morons, babe. You’re the only woman on this planet good enough to be my wife.”

Watching him play it off so cool, I just smile back.

But the second I head to the kitchen, I’m pulling out my phone and called my old brother.

Leo? It’s Nova. Damon’s cheating. Time to destroy him.”

Leo’s quiet for three long seconds:

Nova, are you sure? Maybe you’re reading too much into-”

slide my wedding ring off, the diamond cutting into my palm as I squeeze it tight.

Ten years of marriage, Leo. I personally ordered every single one of his cufflinks from Italy.”

“But today he’s wearing some cheap plastic knockoff. You think I’m imagining things?”

You know I don’t take shit from anyone. Dig up every dirty thing he’s done and make it public. And get me the best divorce lawyer money can buy.”

Leo’s voice turns ice cold. “Done.”

Thirty minutes later, my phone buzzes with an encrypted file from him.

The first photo makes my stomach drop:

Come fresh-faced blonde in a white sundress, hanging off a guy’s arm with this sickeningly sweet smile.

The wrist peeking out from his sleeve? Same wolf tattoo as Damon’s.

don’t hesitate. Straight to his office building.

Cure enough, minutes later this girl comes bouncing out-long blonde hair, white dress, the whole innocent act.

Her name tag reads “Emma Blake.”

The second she spots me, all the color drains from her face.

She tries to hide her hands behind her back, but I already saw it.

That custom Swiss watch on her wrist.

Last year on my birthday, I got a credit card statement from Switzerland.

A three hundred thousand-dollar watch.

And a fifty-thousand dollar necklace.

The necklace is carefully sitting in my jewelry box at home.

The watch? Right there on little Miss Perfect’s arm.

I let out a cold laugh.

Wow. Ms. Blake, Your husband has the exact same taste as mine. Even got you the same custom watch design.”

Emma starts trembling when she hears that, her lips moving for ages before she finally stammers out:

Y yeah… I guess… guys all have similar taste, right?”

Her knuckles are white from gripping her dress.

“Cut the act. Emma Blake.”

“You’re the little side piece Damon’s guys were talking about, aren’t you?”

Now that I’ve called her out, Emma’s shaking even harder, looking like she’s about to have a full meltdown.

“Please don’t misunderstand! Mr. Hayes just had another low blood sugar episode and passed out. I was just taking care of him.”

“His friends thought I was being sweet, they were just joking around for calling me that.”

“I’m so sorry for the confusion.”

Then she does this ridiculous ninety-degree bow, playing the whole innocent victim card.

If I hadn’t seen her Instagram posts showing how she seduced Damon, I might’ve actually bought this pathetic act.

Two weeks ago, she posted a video of some guy swiping his card at a Porsche dealership.

Her caption read: [A man’s love follows his wallet].
