Chapter 105

No matter the time or place, no one could ever dictate her choices.

She always liked to pick her own battlefield.

Narissa grabbed two unconscious guys and marched right up to Bastien and his squad, heading straight for them.

“Wait, is that…” someone blurted out in shock.

Bastien’s eyes narrowed in an instant.

‘Fox!‘ Bastien thought.

He was just about to make a move, but Narissa tossed a hostage right at him and forced his hands.

“If you don’t want him to die, save him first!” she called out to Bastien.

With that, Narissa dragged the other hostage along and charged forward, breaking through the blockade.

To most people, hundreds of soldiers blocking the way would be an unbreakable wall, but for Narissa, she had plenty of ways to make them lose their fighting power.

As Narissa passed through the crowd, she flung several handfuls of powder directly at the soldiers.

The powder immediately irritated their eyes, and chaos broke out as the soldiers stumbled around, blinded and disoriented by her attack.

Taking advantage of the confusion, Narissa dragged the hostages with her and broke out of the intelligence unit’s indoor base, making her way outside.

As Bastien shielded the hostage, he realized the man had been poisoned and was on the brink of death. Only he had the skills to save him.

He had to prioritize saving the hostage first. Once he was sure the man was out of immediate danger, he handed him over to someone else for further care.

Then, Bastien immediately resumed the pursuit of Fox.

Though Narissa had managed to get the hostage out to the open area outside the base, she was instantly surrounded by a sea of special forces, all armed to the teeth.

“Fox, you’re surrounded. Let the hostage go and surrender!” someone shouted.

Narissa let out a cold laugh, her hand pressing right up against the hostage’s neck..

One squeeze, and this guy would be dead.

But Narissa would never kill one of their own.

She was waiting for Bastien to show up.

Bastien stepped out right in front of her, just as she expected.

“Fox, you finally showed up!” he called out.

Narissa let out a cold laugh. “Isn’t that exactly why you took my teammate hostage?”

“Let him go,” Bastien said coldly.

“You want me to let him go? Fine, but only if we have a fair contest. If I win, you have to let me walk out of here. How about it?” Narissa shot back.

Bastien didn’t say a word.

Everyone around them thought Fox was unbelievably audacious.

After all, Bastien WAS the legendary War God of Rothialand.

‘Who does she think she is by challenging him?‘ the crowd thought.

“You can’t escape,” Bastien said, his voice low and carrying a commanding presence.

Narissa smiled, her lips curling into a flirtatious grin that made more than a few rookie soldiers blush.

“Really? Then why won’t you take me on? Are you afraid you’ll lose?” she teased.

She added with a smirk, “After all, you’re the War God of Rothialand. You have never lost a fight, right?

“But if I beat you today, right here in front of all your adoring fans, you’ll be the laughingstock of the whole military district.

“No, you’d be the laughingstock of all Rothialand.”

Bastien’s face darkened. “Reverse psychology won’t work on me. Let the hostage go and surrender, and I might spare your life.”

“Men who aren’t even a little bit cute are just the worst!” Narissa said with annoyance.

Bastien strode toward Narissa, and she stood her ground, not budging an inch. When there was barely 3 feet left between them, he finally came to a halt.

“I’ll say it one more time–let the hostage go,” he said.

Narissa suddenly flashed a playful smile, a mischievous glint flickering in her eyes.

For a split second, Bastien thought he was staring down a sly little fox, brimming with trouble.

The very next moment, Narissa hurled the hostage right at him.

Bastien instinctively reached out to catch the hostage, trying to save him.

But just as he grabbed the man, he suddenly felt a small, soft hand give his face a playful stroke.

The soldiers and Bastien’s men standing around were left completely dumbfounded by what had just happened.

They all thought in disbelief, ‘Oh my god, did we really just see that?

‘Did a woman just cop a feel of Bastien’s face?

‘No way. That has to be a hallucination!
