After barely dodging defeat a few times, Narissa was starting to lose her patience.

“Is catching me really that important to you?” Narissa taunted, a playful glint in her eyes.

“You committed theft. You should face judgment!” Bastien retorted, not missing a beat as they exchanged blows.

Narissa let out a cold, mocking laugh. “So rigid.

“Sure, I’m a master thief, but haven’t you noticed? Everything I steal always ends up right back in the right hands.

“If you think about it, I’m just serving the country in my own roundabout way!”

Bastien’s face darkened. “Wrong is wrong. Don’t talk to me about serving the country.”

Narissa fell silent.

She thought, ‘He really is so inflexible. Just as I thought. Everyone in the military is all about righteousness and rules.

“They’re nothing like us in the Special Ops, where we’ll use any means necessary to get the job done,‘

But even so, even if it meant being misunderstood and slandered, she was willing to bear it all for her country—no matter the cost.

Narissa said, “Yeah, you’re right. I’m a thief. So if you have what it takes, go ahead and kill me. But if you can’t, then I’ll just keep doing what I do.”

Bastien had clashed with Narissa several times now, but no matter what he did, he just couldn’t pin her down.

She was slippery as an eel. Every time he thought he finally had her, she’d wriggle free from his grasp all over again.

After so many rounds, both of them were running out of steam, but neither one had managed to come out on top.

“I never thought Fox was this badass. She’s even going toe–to–toe with Bastien!” one of the soldiers whispered, clearly impressed.

“Yeah, could Fox actually be even stronger than Mr. Harlow?” another muttered.

Someone else insisted, “No way. There’s no one in this world tougher than Mr. Harlow. That vixen must be using her charms to make him hold back.

“He just can’t bring himself to go all out against her, that’s gotta be it.”

The gossip and chatter from the crowd didn’t faze Narissa in the slightest.

She launched an even fiercer assault on Bastien.

Bastien moved quickly to block her, and the two traded blows–fists and kicks clashing again and again, neither able to gain the upper hand.

They were perfectly matched, every strike meeting its equal.

Just as their fight was reaching its peak; several helicopters suddenly appeared overhead, circling above to monitor every second of the showdown below.

Narissa was completely caught up in her fierce clash with Bastien, but she suddenly realized the crowd around them was swelling by the minute.

To top it off, someone was recording everything the entire time.

Her identity was supposed to be absolutely classified within the military base, but there were still some top brass who knew exactly who she was.

If she got caught and her cover was blown, she might really be forced to leave for good.

She decided to play dirty and use some covert moves to injure Bastien. While everyone’s attention was locked on him, she’d use the chaos to slip away unnoticed.

She thought her plan was foolproof.

But she totally underestimated just how sharp Bastien really was.

Just as Narissa pulled out a syringe, ready to inject Bastien with a sedative, he saw her move coming a mile away.

In one swift motion, he used his wristwatch to block the needle.

Narissa was forced to retreat, her sneak attack foiled.

But Bastien didn’t waste a second. He lunged forward, grabbing her shoulder with a grip like iron.

This was the first time Bastien actually managed to get a real grip on Narissa, catching her completely off guard.

His hold on her shoulder was so strong, it felt like he could crush her bones at any second.

With her arm pinned, she had no choice but to let the dagger slip helplessly from her hand, clattering to the ground.

With no weapon left, Narissa was totally defenseless. It looked like Bastien was finally about to claim his victory over her.

The crowd around them let out a collective sigh of relief.

“Awesome! I told you, Mr. Harlow is unbeatable!” someone cheered.

“See? Fox isn’t all that after all!” another scoffed.

“Mr. Harlow is mighty!” someone else shouted.

‘What should I do now?‘ Narissa’s mind raced, tension coiling in her chest as she searched for a way out.

At that moment, Bastien caught the handcuffs tossed over by his comrade, ready to lock them onto Narissa.

She thought, ‘As someone from my agency, there’s no way I can let myself get arrested by the military like this.

No one saw Fox’s move coming. It was so out of left field that everyone was left completely stunned.
