With a metallic clang, Narissa’s blade knocked his knife clean out of his hand, sending it flying across the room to bury itself deep in the wall.
The masked man finally realized things were going south. He spun on his heel, shaking off Narissa’s attack and slipping right out of her attack range.
Afraid she’d go for the kill, he immediately backed up to the window, finding himself a safe spot where he could either make a run for it or strike back if he had to.
Narissa idly played with her dagger, making as if to throw it like a dart. The masked man looked so spooked he almost jumped out the window.
Seeing him freak out like that, Narissa let out a mocking laugh.
“So, you’re the assassin instructor those folks from Lunaris Academy keep talking about, right?” she said.
The masked man froze in shock at her words.
He asked, “How the hell did you know that?”
But he quickly pulled himself together, his eyes narrowing as he recognized Narissa. “Just a student, and you managed to track me down? You’re not just some regular student, are you?”
Trackon
Without warning, Narissa whipped her dagger through the air. It shattered the window behind the masked man, then landed softly on the floor.
Reese felt a chill run down his spine as he realized just how terrifying her skills were.
He thought, ‘Just how freakishly precise does your control have to be to shatter glass with a dagger without sending it flying out the window?
Is this girl even human?‘
“Airight, spill it. Why were you spying on everyone?” Narissa demanded, stepping closer.
She walked right up to the masked man and bent down gracefully to pick up her dagger, looking so calm and collected it was like she didn’t even care that he might try to ambush her.
Truth be told, Reese didn’t dare make a move.
She’d had plenty of chances to finish him off, but every time, she held back at the last second.
That wasn’t by accident. She was clearly going easy on him on purpose.
He thought, ‘Can’t believe Regality Academy’s got a student this badass hiding in plain sight.
Good thing I’d always made a habit of never underestimating anyone–otherwise, I’d be the laughingstock of tomorrow’s competition for sure.
“I was just keeping tabs on everyone. It’s just a professional habit. What’s the big deal?” Reese replied, regarding Narissa coolly. “Professional habit?” Narissa shot back, eyebrow raised.
Reese replied, “Of course. Being an assassin is a dangerous line of work. You have to set up at least ten contingency plans just to make sure a hit goes off without a hitch.
“Even the smallest detail can ruin a mission or get you killed. That’s why I never underestimate anyone, not even a bunch of students. “After all, this business chews people up.”
Narissa nodded in agreement. In some ways, her own jobs weren’t all that different from an assassin’s line of work,
So she could definitely relate.

Reese had assumed Narissa wouldn’t understand, but the look in her eyes and the way she spoke–with that kind of knowing tone- completely threw him for a loop.
‘Wait, is she in the business too?‘ he thought to himself.
Narissa slid her dagger back into the holster on her thigh and said openly, “I’m looking forward to our fight tomorrow. To p
Reese opened his mouth on instinct, but he couldn’t think of a single thing to say.
He actually found himself relating to her.
‘Damn, this is unreal!‘ he thought.
Narissa turned to leave, but just before stepping out, she casually tossed a tiny explosive device into the master
Moments after she was gone, a little blast rocked the room, blowing every monitor lining the walls to piece
Reese rushed in to check, but it was hopeless. The damage was already done, and there was no fixing it.
He pressed a hand to his forehead, staring helplessly at the doorway.
‘Who is this girl?‘ he thought.
