Balance of Light and Shadow (By Chandrea) novel Chapter 196

Chapter 196

Conrad POV

:

It’s been a few days since the rogues were released from Malik’s Alpha command, and there has been little more information than what we already know. The younger ones are still barely talking, but the older one seems eager to please Lewana. He doesn’t know why he is helping; he just thinks that he should for some reason.

We have also notified all the other guardians about what is going on. When we returned from rescuing Lewana, both Eli and Aalto got an earful from their parents about the rescue mission when they reported and were ordered to stay home. Their parents were horrified that we went with just the four of us instead of an entire army to rescue something as valuable as a Goddess blessing. It definitely didn’t help relations with them, but it’s done now, and I don’t think we could have done it any differently without risking Lewana.

When I told them about Malik, they told me to handle Werewolf business, as internal conflicts don’t concern them. However, when I mention that the shadows were living in his soul, they listened. The current plan is to discuss with our own councils and see if we can gather any more intel and meet at the pack house in a week to discuss.

I only call Councilwoman Valerie. Honestly, she is the only one I trust fully to actually help and not potentially tip off other packs if they are sided with Malik.

We all meet in the main council chamber with Arthur, Liam, Murdock, and Lewana. I also get Nightstalker on speaker.

I address everyone seriously, as they know what this meeting is about. You all know what has been going on and some of the information we have. Today, we need to start working on a plan on how to take him out in the next month. Two at the most.

Liam asks his first question as if it is obvious. If we can find him, we can kill him in more of an assignation style. That would stop the Alpha command and therefore his slave army.

I think it through. Still means we have to find him first. Also, if 4000 wolves are suddenly released, they will be lost and confused. We might have to fight them anyway. They might also wander into human towns and expose us as a species, as well as damaging any future goals of integration.

Lewana just looks determined. So it comes back to finding 4000 wolves and working out how to handle them.

Chapter 196

I know this entire situation has been hard on Lewana. It’s brought up a lot of old wounds for her, but she is fighting through it as usual.

Murdock claps his hands as he suddenly thinks of something. We need to have multiple plans and link them all so we can switch at any moment. We can just focus on these wolves. We need to focus on taking him down as well. If we can’t find him, we need him to get him to show himself.

I raise an eyebrow. I never know where this man’s head is going. And how do you propose we get

him to do that?.

Manhunt. We tell the country we are looking for him and mark him as armed and dangerous. It’s harder to hide when everyone knows your face. You would be surprised how many warlords I have killed in cafes because they could come and go and nobody knew who they were. By the end, he is smiling as if it were a fond memory for him.

I just sigh. Were not federal police. We can’t just declare a manhunt. And what would we even say are his crimes? We can’t say kidnapping Lewana, as we already said that was Anthony and Cordelia. We certainly can’t say being a delusional psychotic Werewolf possessed by shadows.

The small box in the center of the room comes to life as Nightstalker starts to talk. We don’t have to create crimes. He is already wanted. Malik Sterling is his human side. There are numerous warrants and lawsuits after him for fraud, tax evasion, extortion, bribery, racketeering, and some other stuff, I think. It seems he is already being investigated, but they are struggling to link all the information together and determine exactly who they are after.

Murdock’s grin gets wider. I know a secret agent who might be able to help with all of this. He owes me a favour. As long as our inhouse stripper does another dance for him.

Murdock stares straight at Liam and wiggles his eyebrows while blowing a kiss.

Liam just growls back. I’m not doing it if Murdock is there.

Murdock acts dramatically heartbroken. But I’ve been saving up my dollar bills.

Lewana cuts in, knowing Murdock is more likely to listen to her. Murdock. IF Liam is demonstrating his gift, it will be on his terms.

Murdock does a dramatic bow. Of course, Luna Queen. Anything for you?. When he looks up, he catches my eye for a reaction, and I just roll mine.

Is there anything else?.

The room is quiet before Arthur speaks up in a shaky voice. Who’s going to be the one to battle

Malik?“.

Lewana just holds his gaze. You know the answer to that, Arthur. He is possessed by shadow. Only light can defeat it.

Fuck. I hadn’t even thought of that. I just assumed it would be me. I know I will be right there with her, but for her to do it.

Arthur speaks up again before I can even finish my thoughts. Then we need to wait until after you give birth.

Lewana is very firm in her answer. No. I’m not risking him getting my daughter.

If he does, we will get her back because I’m not risking losing mine or both pups in battle.

Lewana just stares at him as if he had lost his mind. If he ever gets her, then all is lost. If we can’t get her back, if we take too long, we will not survive. He has managed to hide a pack of 4000, he will easily hide a baby somewhere.

Arthur starts pleading. Please, Jellybean. You have to trust that we will find her. We need you safe……….

Lewana stands up abruptly, and her chair slams against the floor. Serena forces her way forward, and they glare daggers at Arthur, her golden blue eyes and her voice fill the room with such power that the picture rattles.

I SAID NO.

I rush over to calm and ground, and Arthur sends me a mindlink.

You have to convince her. She needs to stay safe.
