Chapter 213

Conrad POV

I woke up 36 hours ago. I have a burst of energy and make sure I eat each time. Do about two hours of work, then go to sleep for three hours and repeat the process. I am doing all this from the hospital room as I refuse to leave Lewana, but I’m making it work

I can feel myself getting stronger each time I wake and have started moving around the room to get movement going, and face is coming back more and more, making it easier. We are probably at about 60-70% right now, but it’s getting better. Our only focus is on making our mate proud.

The care they have been giving her is amazing. Regular turns to avoid pressure sores. Physical therapy to keep her muscles moving and blood flowing. Mary has even been coming in three times a day to massage and sing to our pups in her belly. She says it’s because she doesn’t want the pups to worry that their mother is active and that the pack is still here for them.

We have most of the pack issues sorted. The refugees are all settling in. I’m reluctant to take any more into this pack as we are nearly 3500 now, which makes it more difficult to manage, but they don’t want to leave Lewana. I can only address that when she is awake. I have altered the patrol to cover more of the border to the eastern pack that betrayed me. Will deal with them when I am at full strength.

I have spoken to Agent Carter and updated him. Phase two rolled out this morning, so I turned on the news to see the effect.

“In breaking news this morning, the federal police have identified the man behind the assassination attempt at the Gala last week. Malik Sterling. This is the same man who has been on the run from authorities after his company, Serenity Solutions, caused a major forest fire three months ago because a local facility did not meet fire safety codes. Federal police have linked this alias to many other cases, including the one he used at the Gala, Miles Jackson, to a string of other scams, coercion, tax fraud, and civil suits. According to the source, Conrad Strongheart of the Strongheart empire noticed something was wrong with the projects he was presented, and when he went to verify facts, Malik Sterling panicked and opened fire. Federal Police have issued a warrant for his arrest and have marked him as armed and extremely dangerous. They are urging anyone who sees him to report to the hotline number immediately“.

During the entire broadcast, a picture of him flashed across the screen until a very clear face on a still was presented at the end. We knew it would be dangerous exposing him like this, but this leaves him very few places to hide, meaning it should be easier to find him. Also, we now have the entire human force hunting him as well as the wolf force.

I look over at my sleeping mate and hope she has heard the news. That part of her is still awake enough to know that not only are we caring for her, but we are still moving forward with the plan.

Honestly, the part killing me the most is not being able to touch her. The medic explained that the last thing Lewana said was about transferring her energy through touch. So if I crawl into bed next to her, she will likely keep giving me energy rather than saving enough to wake herself up,

‘GASP‘,

She suddenly sits bolt upright in the bed and starts gasping for air and looking around.

I practically jump out of my skin.

“FUCK“. I scramble over to her and pull her into my arms. “Thank the Goddess you’re awake, Moonlight. You scared everyone‘.

I have already mindlinked Arthur, Liam, Mary, and the head medic, who all come running through the doors.

“Oh, Jellybean. I’m glad you’re OK“. Arthur rubs her back as I refuse to let her go.

Chapter 213

The medics start checking her over, but Lewana is pushing him away and trying to get up. She starts growling at us.

“Which pack?“.

1 stare at her, confused. “You’re in our pack, Moonlight. Don’t you remember? You’re safe. Let us look after you“.

This pissed her off. “WHICH. PACK. WHERE THOSE WARRIORS FROM. WHICH PACK TRIED TO TAKE YOU FROM ME“.

She’s still heightened from the battle. “Eastern Moonfang pack. We will deal with that when you’re OK“.

She starts growling loudly and throws off the covers as she gets up. She pushes us all out of the way and starts marching towards the barracks like she is on a mission.

I follow her and try to get her to go back to the hospital, but she completely tunes me out. Even Athur is trying to reason with her.

When we get there, there is a flurry of activity when we get there. The soldiers are all gearing up and looking at us when we approach.

“What are your orders?“.
