The library is buzzing with excitement. After the big announcement from Kimberly yesterday morning, all the girls are together like old times, dreaming away about white dresses.

Kimberly told her parents yesterday, and they insisted on driving down. She kept insisting that they didn’t need to, but he mum said the pictures of her ring weren’t good enough and she needed to see it in person. Her father was more upset that Connor hadn’t asked his permission, so he declared he was coming to test him.

Most of it melted away instantly when they learned they were now grandparents to an 8–year–old daughter. Kimberly hadn’t mentioned it, as she and Connor decided to see what was going to happen in their relationship before mentioning it to her extended family.

I got a mind–link that they had arrived, so I told Kimberly, and she texted Connor. We all met outside the packhouse and watched as the large SUV pulled up the driveway.

Kimberly’s mother, Beverly, basically launched out of the car before it stopped, and they ran into each other’s arms, screaming with excitement before breaking down crying. Her father was next to lose his battle with the tears. Kimberly has three older brothers, so she is the baby and only daughter.

After they had their moment, Beverly turned straight to me and launched at me. “Oh, Eve honey. Look at you. You’re practically glowing. I was so scared when you were kidnapped by that psychopathic harlot. I can’t believe what she did“.

Beverly has always prided herself on good manners, so calling someone a harlot is strong language for her.

“I’m alright. Honestly. The kicking between them is bothering me the most. And please. Call me Lewana“.

That’s when I notice Kimberly Dad, David, eyeing off Connor. He is trying to be tough and push out his chest to be intimidating.

“So, Connor, you think you are worthy of my only daughter?“.

Connor keeps a serious face as he knows he needs this to go well.

“Yes, Sir. She has loved me and been there for me when I needed her. She is a wonderful woman“.

I can tell he has prepared these lines as he doesn’t want to disrespect his dead wife, so he can’t declare Kimberly better. Still, he needs to acknowledge his current partner. Kimberly understands and glows at the compliment.

David continues. “Well, young man., understand that I will be testing you and reporting back to her brothers. If you upset her……“.

“Oh, David, enough of that. Our boys are giant softies. If he tried anything, I’m sure Ev… Lewana would kill him anyway. He should be more scared of her. If she likes him, then I do too“.

I just smile. “Damn right I would, and he knows it“.

David just smiles at his wife before trying to send an icy glare to Connor, but he’s not very good at it, so it looks a bit comical.

Beverly is starting to look around, and Kimberly instantly knows who she is looking for.

Chapter 220

“Mum. She’s not here. Stella is with a family friend at the moment“.

Beverly looked irritated. “Then take me there now. I want to meet my granddaughter. I bought her a few things“.

Kimberly freezes. “Mum. How much did you buy?“.

Beverly starts flapping her hands. “Just a couple of things that caught my eye. Nothing big“,

Kimberly runs to the car and screams. “MUM. Most of the car is filled with shopping bags“.

Beverly feigns concern but is clearly not sorry. “I might have gotten slightly carried away. Besides, I have 8 years to make up for, and I’m sick of buying trucks for your brother’s son’s. She is our only granddaughter, so I got to buy pink for a change“.

Kimberly drops her head and sighs. When she looks up, she mouths Sorry to Connor, who just smiles.

Michelle and Willow head off, but promise to catch up later. Connor redirected everyone to his house, and we all headed over.

Stella is waiting on the neighbour’s doorstep in her favorite dress and the designer bag Conrad bought her. You can tell she is nervous, but I sense it is more about meeting grandaprents. She has never had them before and is worried they won’t like her, so she dressed in all her best stuff to make a good impression.

Connor points her out on the step when we approach, and Beverly starts shrieking.

“OH MY LORD, SHE IS GORGEOUS“.

You can sense the anticipation running through her to hug her. Even David. But they hold each other instead, knowing they have to contain themselves.

Stella walks over and starts introductions. “Stella, honey. This is Mr and Mrs…..“.

Beverly’s eyes go cold. “Don’t you dare call family by our last name. We are Grandma and Grandpa. Come to the car, honey. We brought you some presents to welcome you into the family“.

The tailgate of the car opened, and Stella’s eyes lit up as if seeing treasure. She jumped in the back of the car and started looking through all the bags.

“Chocolate. Dad. There is loads of chocolate in here“.

Connor lets out a chuckle. “Well, you’re not eating all of it today“.

Connor and I exchange a look and move into his house. We know the conversation is coming. It’s the only reason I came.

Once we all have coffee and biscuits and Stella is upstairs with her loot, we start explaining everything. The way we live. The royalty title. The hunters and finally, the werewolves.
