He was looking at me with so much intensity that I couldn’t breathe properly. I could feel the others swooning from his gaze alone.

“She wasn’t lying,” one of them breathed out.

“Well, Luna is very pretty,” another chimed, as though that explained everything.

“Let’s go,” someone muttered.

“Yeah, Princess was just making a scene.”

Princess‘ face was still frozen, her hair framing an expression she probably didn’t know she was wearing–shock.

Then his voice cut through the silence again. “Until what time is your class?”

My mind lagged behind my body. “Just lunch,” I managed to say.

He nodded. “Okay. I’ll wait for you right outside later.”

I nodded back, still dazed. I didn’t even know what to make of him coming here. However, the interaction turned out better than I ever expected.

“See you later,” he said and walked off without looking back.

The crowd seemed to part for him. The murmurs followed like a trail of heat, everyone watching his broad back retreat down the yard.

Then, it was only us left.

Princess‘ friends were still staring at the empty space where he’d been, mouths slightly open, eyes following the ghost of his presence.

“He’s jacked,” one of them said.

“Seriously,” another agreed. “His skin, too. He’s got all those scars, but it makes him more handsome–like, what the hell, where did you meet him?”

Their voices overlapped, curious and insistent.

“Yeah, Luna,” a third one pressed, eyes gleaming. “Who is he, really?”

I pressed my lips together, the words piling up inside me.

“It’s none of your business.” I said finally.

They exchanged glances, disappointed. However, they knew they couldn’t press further because they’ve been teasing me about it for the past week.

Princess still wasn’t saying anything. She was just standing there, a faint pink creeping up neck.

Marcel, beside her, looked the opposite. She appeared smug while looking at their group.

I reached for her hand. “Let’s go,” I murmured.

We barely took two steps when a hand caught my wrist.

His grip wasn’t tight, but it was firm enough to stop me. I turned, already tired.

“Is it true?” he asked in a tone softer than I expected.

I sighed. “Didn’t you hear what he said?”

His lips part slightly.

“It’s true,” I said. “So leave me alone.”

I pulled my wrist free and started walking. Then, I turned to all of them, giving everyone a

once–over.

“All of you.”

It was lunchtime, and some people were already turning to look at me. Their eyes followed me down the corridor, filled with whispers I pretended not to hear. I held my bag close to my side, pretending everything was normal, even though nothing about today had been normal.

Marcel was beside me. She still had classes, but she’d decided to walk me out anyway,

“You showed all of them, Luna!” she exclaimed, bumping my shoulder as we made our way down the stairs. “Abel is so hot. You didn’t tell me he would be coming here.”

“I didn’t know,” I honestly responded.

“Goodness, he looked like a main character walking out of a movie scene. All dark and mysterious with that stare of his. You saw Princess‘ face, right? It was priceless.”

I smiled faintly but didn’t reply.

Marcel continued her commentary like she was narrating a drama. “What are you going to talk about?”

“I don’t know,” I said honestly.

“It doesn’t matter,” she replied immediately. “I trust him.”

I glanced at her. “You trust him?”

“Yeah.” she said without hesitation. “I feel like I could trust him. It feels like he’s one of those people who could protect you from anything. You know? He’s got that energy.”

I shook my head. “You’ve barely even met him.”

She shrugged. “Still. I can give him to you. Completely.”

“Marcel,” I said, laughing slightly.

She chuckled but then stopped abruptly. I felt her hand still on my arm.

“What?” I asked.

Her eyes were fixed ahead, wide and shining. “Oh. My. God.”

I followed her gaze and froze.

There, parked just outside the gates, was a black car–sleek and unmistakably expensive. Standing beside it, scrolling through his phone like he didn’t already own the entire moment, was Abel.

He was dressed in a black button–up, the sleeves rolled slightly to his forearms, paired with matching slacks and dark shoes that caught the late afternoon light. His hair looked softer in the sun, the breeze catching just enough of it to mess it up perfectly.
