Chapter 104 Never Sell Out My Marriage
Deaths
Lewis thought, I’ve taken every precaution and covered every trace. There’s no way anyone could have known. So how on earth did Athena find out?
His eyes flicked toward Zaden. The man, tall and broad–shouldered, stood with unshakable calm. His expression was cool and detached, almost aloof.
There wasn’t the faintest crack in his composure.
No. Zaden couldn’t have told her.
Then how did she learn the truth?
Could it have been Nina?
Aside from Nina, no one else could have possibly told Athena. Mom certainly never would.
Lewis’s frown deepened. “Did Nina tell you?”
Athena’s lips parted slightly, as though she were about to answer.
But something made her pause, and she held her silence.
Lewis took that silence as proof.
So it was Nina! That manipulative, scheming woman!
Bitterness toward Nina burned hotter, but he told himself that she wasn’t the issue now. The only one who mattered was Athena.
She had misunderstood his connection with Nina.
Panic knifed through Lewis, swift and sharp.
He had always believed his marriage to Nina was just a temporary fix, a paper arrangement Athena would never discover. Once he gained what he wanted, he planned to cast Nina aside and win Athena back.

But now Athena knew. He couldn’t help but wonder if she would despise him for it.
He rushed to explain. “Athena, you’ve got it wrong. My marriage to Nina isn’t real. It was just because my family—”
“Your marriage isn’t real? So you didn’t actually sign a certificate at city hall?”

He opened his mouth, wanting to keep explaining, but the words just sounded weak. Because no matter his intentions, the marriage certificate existed. It was real.
And now regret twisted inside him, heavy and merciless.
I never should’ve gone through with it. I never should have made it official.
“Athena, just this once–believe me. Nina means nothing to me. That marriage was for reasons you don’t understand.”
Athena pressed her fingers to her temple, let out a long sigh, and said quietly, “Enough, Lewis. You don’t need to explain. Whether you and Nina are legally bound or only pretending, it makes no difference. I don’t care.”
The words ripped through him like claws.
He stared at her pale face. Her eyes were empty and emotionless. It was as if his existence had nothing to do with her, as if he were a stranger in her world.
She really doesn’t care anymore.
How could she not care?!
His whole expression twisted, anger and desperation flashing in his eyes. Just then, a knock came at the hospital room door. “Did you press the call button?”
Zaden looked as composed as ever, as if he hadn’t been the one to summon help and cut short Lewis’s moment with Athena.
He turned toward her and said evenly, “Her wound is bothering her. Could you take a look?”
“Of course. Gentlemen, would you mind stepping outside?”
Without sparing Lewis a glance, Zaden moved into the hallway,
Lewis resisted the urge to stay, but the nurse was already pulling the curtain around Athena’s bed. Left with no choice, he followed Zaden out.

“Zaden, stop hovering around Athena. She’ll never marry you!”
Lewis came up alongside him, a smug smirk tugging at his mouth. “She lived with me for eight
