“Then maybe you could…” Harriet began, but bit back the rest of her thought.

She had been about to suggest that Athena lean on Zaden, thinking he would definitely find a way to help. But Harriet knew Athena too well.
Athena hated owing anyone anything.
If Harriet said it aloud, Athena would shut her down instantly.
Still, watching the Belmonts drag Athena’s name through the mud without pushback was suffocating. She figured she would just have to go to Zaden herself, whether Athena approved
or not.
Her eyes flickered as the idea took root.
After leaving the hospital, Harriet went straight to see Zaden at Storm Group.
Her cheeks were hot with anger as she burst out, “This isn’t the first time the Belmonts have slandered Athena. She’s had nothing but bad luck, and with their money and influence, she doesn’t stand a chance against them …

As she spoke, Harriet shot him a quick look and added, “So what do you think Athena’s supposed to do now?”
On the surface, it sounded like she was asking for advice, but what she really meant was that Athena was powerless, and Zaden should step in.
Zaden’s eyes narrowed. “Don’t you have dirt on Lewis and Nina? Put it out there.”
“But…” Harriet faltered, her brows pulling tight. “That only shows how obsessed they are with each other.”
“Right now, the Belmonts are pushing exactly that story–that Lewis and Nina are soulmates, and Athena was nothing more than a hired caretaker. Even if I release it, it won’t change the narrative.”

Zaden’s face hardened.
After a long pause, his voice sank low. “I’ve got a decent connection with Larry Barton of Barton Enterprise. I heard the Belmonts are negotiating a deal with them. Looks like it’s time to put something in their way.”

She didn’t know much about the workings of Storm Group, but she did know Zaden. He was proud, distant, and never the type to go begging for favors.
And now he was willing to approach Larry himself.
That kind of ask would cost him dearly later, yet he was ready to spend it for Athena.
Her face lit up. “Zaden, I knew you wouldn’t let her down! Thank God I came to you without telling Athena; otherwise, she would’ve just swallowed this whole mess quietly.”
At that, Zaden’s brows lifted.
He had assumed Athena had sent her.
But thinking it through, that wasn’t like her at all. Athena never compromised–she’d rather brush it aside, convinced that truth would eventually stand on its own.
Then he caught himself.
Since when did I know Athena so well?
“This is huge, Zaden. When I tell Athena what you’ve done for her, she’ll be so grateful!” Harriet added brightly.
Zaden snapped back from his thoughts.
His expression darkened. “Don’t. She hates owing people.”
“Uh… right,” Harriet muttered, scratching the back of her neck.
But how does he know that about her? He really understands her… Does that mean he’s already started to
care?
Meanwhile, tension gripped the Belmont estate,
Lewis stormed in seething, demanding to know why Bridget had smeared Athena. His face was twisted with rage, like a lion ready to strike,
He had been at the hospital with Athena when news of the statement reached him.
He couldn’t sit still and had rushed home at once.
If Athena sees this, will she hate me even more? And if she does, how could I ever win her back?
