“I’m afraid not,” Zaden said. “I’ve waited years for her. Finally, things have turned in our favor.”

Larry looked puzzled. “May I ask who your girlfriend is?”

Without batting an eye, Zaden replied, “Lewis’s ex–wife.”

The shock hit more than just Larry–Tommy was speechless too.

Now it made sense. Just last night, Zaden had suddenly asked him to deliver his stuff to an ordinary apartment. Tommy later realized it was Athena’s place and had thought it was weird that Zaden was staying there.

Everything clicked into place.

With business concluded, Zaden rose to leave.

Larry remained seated, still baffled. How could a man so capable and composed throw himself into something so personal and irrational–competing with Lewis over a woman?

A single question nagged at him. What kind of woman could cause him to act like this?

Larry wanted to see her for himself.

Tommy trailed behind, his thoughts racing. At last, he asked, “Mr. Storm … are you and Ms. Hall really…”

At the Belmonts‘ estate, Bridget scrolled through the online comments with a self–satisfied smile. She felt the matter had been put to rest.

Now she could go to Jerome and report that the whole situation–Lewis cheating on Athena with Nina and having a kid—had been taken care of.

But when she arrived at the estate, the atmosphere hit her like a wall.

Alaric’s whole family was there, faces dark and varied. Bridget stepped forward. “Father, it’s settled. Lewis’s matter has been handled. Please don’t worry.”

“Heh, settled?” Alaric scoffed, his voice cold and mocking. “I had no idea you were trying to ruin the Belmonts!”

Bridget froze, bewildered.

What did he mean, trying to ruin the Belmonts? I took care of Lewis’s scandal neatly and shifted all the blame onto Athena. Now the internet is tearing her apart.
