Athena looked at Dion with a serious expression, her voice tight with anger.
“Dion! You can’t pour water into hot oil. Haven’t I taught you basic things like that?”
Dion felt wronged hearing her scold him, but he still tried to defend himself. “I… I forgot…”
Athena felt a wave of helplessness wash over her.
Just then, Ronan stepped forward. “Mrs. Storm, he’s just a kid. I’m sure he only wanted to help. Don’t be too hard on him.”
Athena didn’t argue back and stayed silent, clearly deciding to let it go.
But she still turned to Ronan and said, “Ronan, make sure his parents keep an eye on him. It’s fine if their kid acts out, but not when it puts others in danger. Burns aren’t a small thing–they can leave scars for life.”
Ronan nodded quickly. “Got it.”
He reached out to take Dion back to Lewis and Nina.
But Dion jerked his arm free, ran straight to Athena, and pointed at Teri. “She’s faking it! She talked just now!”
Teri froze for a second. She suddenly remembered that she had yelled earlier when she got scared.
Was she about to be found out?
Athena frowned and looked at Dion. “So you do know you did something wrong?”
It was completely normal for someone to scream in fear.
Dion was clearly too spoiled. His sense of right and wrong had already gone crooked.
Athena was frustrated, but since she no longer had any connection to him, she couldn’t lecture him like before.
Dion realized from her tone that Athena didn’t believe him at all.
He grew anxious, trying to explain again, but Athena had already turned away to check on Teri.
Left standing there, Dion clenched his fists, eyes burning with anger.

Not far away, Zaden watched the scene quietly. He glanced from Dion to Athena, then at Teri, his expression thoughtful.
That night.
Athena was in the shower while Zaden sat in the living room with Teri.
He looked at her gently. “Teri, tell me the truth. You can talk now, can’t you?”
Teri had been happily watching TV, but at his words, she froze in panic.
Her hands twisted together as she sat stiffly, unsure whether to admit it.
In her eyes, Zaden was sharp and clever. It wasn’t surprising he had figured it out.
After a long pause, she finally nodded.
“Dad, I’m sorry,” she whispered, her voice so soft it was barely audible.
Her little head drooped low, her whole body shrinking with guilt.
Zaden’s furrowed brows slowly relaxed.
When Dion caused trouble earlier, he had already started to suspect it. Knowing Teri, he had been almost certain.
“Why did you pretend you couldn’t talk?” he asked.
“I…” Teri’s eyes filled with guilt as she whispered, “I want Athena to be my real mom. You two only got married because of me. If I can’t talk, you’ll stay together!”
Zaden didn’t know whether to laugh or sigh.
He hadn’t expected that reason.
But it was true–he and Athena had only gotten married because of Teri.
Still, Teri was too young to think of something like that on her own. Someone must have told her.
After a moment of thought, he asked, “Was it Harriet who told you?”
“Yes.”
