Athena didn’t bother arguing with him any further. She simply turned and walked away.

for her.

The two of them were waiting with eager faces, looking absolutely adorable. The moment Athena saw them, all the frustration she’d felt from dealing with Lewis vanished in an instant.

“Sorry, something held me up. Let’s go,” she said with a small smile.

Zaden narrowed his eyes slightly and glanced behind her.

He didn’t even need to ask. He knew she must have run into Lewis. That man just wouldn’t quit, still clinging to her like a ghost that refused to leave.

Yesterday, Zaden had taken first place in the family competition.

Today, Ronan had arranged something much simpler–lighthearted family bonding activities like making lunch together.

Dion, remembering what Nina said the day before, kept staring at Teri the moment he saw her, waiting for the perfect chance.

He was sure he could make her talk this time.

Although the families were just cooking lunch, the ingredients were still decided by drawing lots. After last time’s experience, Athena wasn’t too worried about her luck anymore.

She drew a fish and a few leafy greens.

Just as she was about to start cleaning the fish, Zaden took the knife from her. “Let me do it,” he

said.

Athena looked at him, surprised.

Zaden was actually going to gut a fish himself?

It felt surreal–almost funny–to see someone like him doing something so ordinary.

For a second, she even wondered if he actually knew how.

She took Teri’s hand and guided her to pick and wash the vegetables.

The two of them working together made the whole scene feel warm and peaceful.

Finally, it was time to cook. Athena looked at Teri with a smile. “Teri, want to try making lunch yourself?”

She wanted Teri to learn a bit of independence, to pick up some real–life skills.

Even though Teri’s background meant she probably didn’t need to cook, Athena believed it was always good to know how.

Teri nodded hard, showing she was all in.

“Alright, first step–pour a little oil in the pan and keep the heat low,” Athena said.

“Next…”

Following Athena’s instructions, Teri carefully began cooking. She looked confident, focused. Dion watched closely from nearby, his eyes gleaming when he saw an opening.
