Athena had used up all her strength struggling earlier. Now, she could only lean weakly against Zaden. However, she knew she was finally safe.

Lewis scrambled up, glaring at Zaden as he shouted, “Didn’t you leave just now? Were you faking it?”

Zaden’s expression was ice cold.

“Mr. Belmont, maybe you should worry about yourself. You broke into my room in the middle of the night and tried to attack my wife. How do you plan to explain that to the police?”

His presence was icy and commanding, and his tone left no room for

argument.

Athena looked at the man before her. Under the dim bathroom light, he seemed almost godlike, and a wave of indescribable emotion washed over her.

He always showed up when she needed him most and made her feel safe.

“Ha!” Lewis snorted at Zaden’s words.

He looked at Zaden and Athena with scorn. “Your wife? You two aren’t even a real couple! Athena has nothing to do with you!

“You probably haven’t even touched Athena. What right do you have to call her your wife?”

Seeing Athena clinging to another man made jealousy boil inside Lewis, his gaze turning

colder.

Suddenly, he lunged at Athena and Zaden, yelling, “Athena is mine! Give her back to me!”

Zaden shielded Athena behind him and shoved Lewis away.

He guided Athena to the doorway and told her, “Stay outside and don’t move. I need to settle some personal business with Lewis.”

Then Lewis was sent sprawling to the floor by Zaden, his face contorted with rage. He sprang back up and swung at Zaden with all his might.

Zaden dodged Lewis’s wild punches easily. He looked at Lewis and said calmly, “Doing sneaky things like this just shows your character. No wonder Athena wants nothing to do with you.”

That finally sent Lewis over the edge.

He went at Zaden even harder, like he had nothing left to lose.

Lewis was no match for Zaden. On top of that, with Nina’s drug still in his system, his reactions were slower than usual. He couldn’t keep up with Zaden at all.

Still, his sheer desperation got him a few hits. He landed a few punches, including one that split Zaden’s lip.

Athena watched from the doorway the whole time. When she saw Zaden get hurt, her heart tightened painfully, like an invisible hand was squeezing it.

“Stop fighting, both of you!”

But neither man seemed to hear her. Zaden grabbed Lewis by the collar and punched him over and over until Lewis’s face was bloody and unrecognizable.

Zaden was hurt, too. But compared to Lewis, he was in much better shape. Finally, Lewis collapsed on the ground, panting, unable to get up.

Only then did Athena come forward. “Zaden, are you okay?”

Hearing Athena show concern for Zaden, Lewis shouted angrily, “Athena! I’m the one who’s hurt the most. Why don’t you care about me?”

Both Athena and Zaden were speechless.

Zaden looked down at him and sneered, “If you can’t fight, maybe keep your mouth shut. Don’t you feel embarrassed?”

Lewis was furious, every part of him aching.

Zaden didn’t waste any more time. He called the police and reported a break–in.

About 15 minutes later, the police arrived and took Lewis away. Zaden and Athena were also taken in to give statements.
