Athena wanted to argue, but she couldn’t find the words. She wanted to say it was all for Teri.

Athena hung up and realized Zaden was standing at the door. She had no idea how long he’d been there, or if he overheard her conversation with Kit.

The air suddenly felt awkward.

Athena broke the silence first. “Is something up?”

Zaden’s face was expressionless as he said, “I just came to let you know the camp is over. I’ve arranged everything. We’re leaving this afternoon.”

Athena froze for a moment.

But she quickly realized Zaden must have wanted to get Teri away before she got dragged into any more trouble.

There were only a few days left anyway.

She nodded quickly. “Okay, you handle it.”
