He spoke calmly, “Nothing from today’s press conference will be made public.”

Beverly almost exploded when she heard that. Her whole body shook with anger, her chest tight like she could barely breathe.
“Are you trying to drive me crazy?!” she yelled, pointing a trembling finger at him. “Zaden! Do you even care about me?”
“You seem fine to me. Since you still have the energy to fake fainting, you’ll probably live a long life.”
“You” Beverly gasped, her face turning pale. Her eyes rolled back, and she collapsed again.
This time, she really passed out.
“Mrs. Storm! Please wake up!” Daisy cried.
Tommy hurried over and leaned toward Zaden, whispering, “Mr. Storm, are you sure it’s okay to treat her like this?”
Zaden spaced out for a second.
He’d grown up
under her control and knew exactly how manipulative she could be. If he gave in now, she’d just tighten her grip on him again, and he’d never be able to make his choices.
The doctor came in quickly.
“Mrs. Storm’s fine,” he said. “She just got too worked up. She’ll wake up soon.”
Zaden nodded and told Tommy, “Her health isn’t great. Let her stay here and rest for a while.”
Tommy immediately understood what he meant.
Zaden basically wanted Beverly to stay in the hospital so she couldn’t interfere with Athena
anymore.
As long as Beverly stayed put, Athena’s situation would calm down fast. After all, Albas only had the nerve to act tough because Beverly was behind him.
Still, Tommy couldn’t help wondering how things between mother and son had gotten that
bad.
“Keep an eye on things here-”

Finished
Before Zaden could finish, his phone buzzed. Tommy’s phone vibrated as well, and his jaw dropped as he read it.
“Mr. Storm–it’s Lewis! He… he… ”
Tommy stammered, unable to finish. Zaden just grabbed his phone and read it himself, his face darkening instantly.
As if things with Beverly and Athena weren’t messy enough, now Lewis had to stir up more trouble.
Lewis had gone public with his son, pouring his heart out about Athena. Zaden had just stopped Beverly’s press conference from being released, but Lewis announced to the world that Athena was merely someone Zaden hired, and there was nothing romantic between them.
In front of cameras, Lewis broke down crying, confessing his mistakes and talking about his eight–year relationship with Athena. Beside him, Dion was crying as well, saying he’d been wrong and begging her to come back.
Their tearful show instantly blew up online, shooting straight to the top of trending searches.
Tommy’s eyelid twitched. “Mr. Storm, what should we do now?”
Zaden rubbed his nose. “Give me a second to think.”
On paper, he was still Athena’s husband. If he went public and confirmed that, he could kill two birds with one stone–silence his mother and shut Lewis down.
But…
He looked down, his expression hard to read.
Would Athena even agree to that?
Their marriage had only been for Teri’s sake. Now the summer camp was over, and Teri could finally talk again. If Athena knew the problem was fixed, would she even want to stay married to him?
Tommy noticed Zaden zoning out, clearly deep in thought.
He said, “Mr. Storm, if you tell everyone Ms. Hall is your wife, Lewis won’t be able to mess around anymore.”
Zaden took a long breath, looking a bit lost.
After a pause, he muttered, “But what if Athena doesn’t want that? She might not go along with me. She’s been wanting to end things for a while now.”
