Then, she closed her eyes and let herself fall to the side. Daisy immediately screamed, “Mrs. Storm! Are you okay? Please wake up!”

She turned toward Zaden. “Mr. Zaden! Mrs. Storm just fainted!”

Tommy stood behind Zaden, watching the chaos with a sigh. He already felt a headache coming on.

Both he and Zaden knew Beverly was faking it.

She’d pulled the same trick more than once. It used to get a reaction out of Zaden, but now he didn’t even care anymore.

“Mr. Storm, what should we do?” Tommy whispered.

Zaden looked up and said, “Call the hospital. Have them take her there.”

Tommy nodded and quickly made the call.

When he hung up, he asked, “What about the reporters?”

Zaden glanced at the crowd and said flatly, “Handle it. Erase everything from my mother’s interview.”

“Understood.”

Tommy felt a bit bad for Beverly.

She’d gone through all that effort to set up a press conference, and now it was all for nothing.

When Zaden showed up, the entire event came to an abrupt halt.

Athena saw Beverly collapse, and the whole place descended into chaos. She didn’t know what exactly went down, but it didn’t look good.

She couldn’t help wondering if asking Zaden for help had been a mistake.

Clearly, he and his mother didn’t get along, and it all seemed to come back to her.

Everything had spiraled out of control since Nina started targeting Athena because of her connection with Lewis. Maybe she should’ve just let Kit handle it from the start.

She sighed helplessly. “You’re the one who told me to go to Zaden. Now look at what happened. What am I supposed to do?”

Kit hesitated, feeling a flicker of guilt.

Things were unfolding just the way he wanted. The Storms clearly didn’t like Athena, and now Zaden and his mother were publicly at odds. Athena and Zaden were probably done for.

Honestly, that was exactly what he’d hoped for.

But of course, he couldn’t let Athena know that. Clearing his throat, he said, “Wait, are you telling me Zaden is that useless? He can’t even handle this? I didn’t expect he’d end up fighting with his family.”

Athena didn’t like the way Kit was talking about Zaden.

She snapped, “He’s not useless! If it weren’t for his mom, he would’ve fixed everything by now.”

Kit smirked when he heard her defend Zaden.

She didn’t even realize she was starting to care about him.

“Alright. Since you already went to him, just let him handle it. No point in dragging this out with Mrs. Storm.”

Something about his tone didn’t sit right with Athena, but what he said made sense. Besides, she still believed Zaden could handle it.

“Fine, I’ll wait and see. But if things get worse, I’ll need your help.”

Kit sounded surprised and said, “Didn’t you say you didn’t want anything to do with the Rices? Why the change?”

Athena sighed. “I don’t have any strong connections right now.”

“Well, here’s something–my dad is moving the company back to Vlephia.”

She froze.

He’s coming back?

She said nothing for a while. Kit continued, “I haven’t told him anything about you. He still doesn’t know you’re divorced. If he finds out, he’ll definitely step in.”
