“Did anyone check Mrs. Odette’s grave?”

Harriet blinked in surprise. “No, we haven’t.”

“Then let’s go look!”

But Harriet hesitated, frowning a little.

“Mrs. Odette was buried pretty far away. She didn’t like city cemeteries, so she asked to be buried in the countryside.

“It’ll take at least two hours to get there and back, and we might not return before dark. Are you sure about this?”

Athena paused for just a second before nodding firmly. She didn’t know why, but something told her to go.

Maybe Zaden was there.

She met Harriet’s eyes seriously. “I’m going. We’ve already searched everywhere nearby and found nothing. That means he’s somewhere else.”

Athena shook her head. “That’s exactly why he could be there!”

If he wanted space or to disappear for a bit, he’d pick somewhere no one would think to look.

Harriet had no words and glanced at Tommy, silently asking, “Do you know where he is?”

Tommy mouthed back, “No idea. Mr. Storm didn’t tell me anything.”

Athena thought for a moment. “How about this? I’ll go myself. You two stay here in Vlephia and keep searching. We’ll keep in touch.”

Harriet knew there was no changing Athena’s mind once she’d decided something.

She sighed quietly. “Alright, then. Tommy will go with you. It’s too dangerous for you to go alone.”

Athena didn’t argue and just nodded.

As soon as they left, Harriet tried calling Zaden again. She still got no answer.

Come on, Zaden, do you really have to take it this far?

Athena’s feelings for him were crystal clear now. The moment she heard he was missing, she completely panicked.

That should’ve been enough to make him come back. But he was still nowhere to be found.
